Ted Cruz vows to mock Trump at AIPAC for skipping Fox News debate

Ted Cruz on Wednesday mocked Donald Trump for bowing out of a debate next week in Salt Lake City, and the Texas senator vowed to call out the GOP front-runner at a gathering of a major pro-Israel lobby group next week.

Trump said earlier in the day that he would not participate in the Fox News debate in Utah on Monday, and John Kasich quickly said that he wouldn't attend if Trump didn't. Later on Wednesday, Fox News formally canceled the event.

Trump said he would use his time instead on Monday to address a conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the prominent pro-Israel group. Cruz's campaign said in a statement Wednesday that Cruz would use his time at the same conference to "highlight Trump's positions -- or lack thereof -- in front of the thousands of AIPAC members in attendance."

"Let's be intellectually honest about what's going on here -- Donald Trump is scared to debate Ted Cruz next week,"

Cruz could have gone and debated Kasich. After all, according to John, he’s going to beat both Trump and Cruz.

I think this was a lost opportunity for Teddy.

Trump’s channeling Romney again, another northeastern flip-flopper who backed out of primary debates.

Rubio tried mocking Trump.

How did that work out?

Kasich backed out. He’s afraid of Cruz too.

Even better, he could have debated himself.

He would finally have won!

It’s funny how Trump gets accused of taking the level of discourse down and it’s rarely him. He just hits back way harder. Cruz, there have been 12 debates. I don’t think you can say he doesn’t want to debate you. He just doesn’t care to keep fighting those who are supposed to be on his team. He’d rather fight the Democrats

Cruz is a prick. Use a Israel conference to bash a fellow attendee/guest speaker.

I can’t wait for this guy’s public disgraceful downfall. It’s coming.

Trump’s channeling Romney again, another northeastern flip-flopper who backed out of primary debates.

Trump beat Cruz in all the other debates, particularly the last one where Cruz came out in favor of cheap plastic goods from China. The result, combined with Cruz's other missteps over the weekend, was that Cruz failed to win even one state.

I do not think at this point there's any credibility in Cruz's vanity that Trump decided to cancel because of Cruz. It has more to do with the fact that the RNC promised 8 or 9 debates, and then just a few days ago made plans for yet another one.
