Donald Trump warned Wednesday that riots would break out if the GOP tries to deny him the Republican Partys nomination.
I think well win before getting to the convention. And if were 20 votes short or if were 100 short and were at 1,100 and somebody else is at 500 or 400 I dont think you can say that we dont get it automatically, he told CNN.
I think youd have riots, he added. Im representing many, many millions of people, in many cases first-time voters.
I wouldnt lead it, but I think bad things would happen, the tycoon noted.
The really big story is how many people are voting in these primaries, he said. If you just disenfranchise these people, I think you would have problems like youve never seen before.
Trump mentioned a hypothetical scenario in which hed go to the Cleveland convention in July with about 1,000 delegates and a rival would show up with 500.
He said he believes hell capture the nomination before the convention and said he couldnt imagine failing to get the partys nod virtually automatically in such a scenario.

Too bad Cruz is such a lousy candidate and can’t seal the deal himself. He’s even losing Evangelicals to the “bigot and fraud”. That says more about Cruz than Trump, IMO.
First time voters who have been sitting on the sidelines doing nothing about anything and find themselves angry about it now want to riot. Well, isn’t that just precious.
and btw most of the states going forward are proportional so yes Cruz will be picking up a lot of delegates.
2nd place Teddy isn’t getting the nom if Trump wins close to 40 states. Forget about the math. That’s just the reality. Trump got over a million votes in FL. The GOP can’t elect a dog catcher in FL without Trump’s endorsement now.
On May 29, according to projected counts, Mitt Romney crossed the threshold of 1,144 delegates. He was formally nominated at the Republican National Convention on August 28.
Almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.
If Trump goes to the convention with 49% of the delegates and the other 51% consolidate on someone else then he will lose totally fair and square.
Good thing she's not a bigot and a fraud, eh?
She who coined the phrase 'fooking Jew bastard' She who said 'obama should be serving coffee in the White House' she who claims that the U.S. "didn't lose a single person" in Libya during her time as secretary of state.
With or without a Trump nomination, I expect that there will be riots far worse and far more widespread than what Baltimore saw last year. I cannot imagine a path forward that doesn’t get very ugly, very quickly. The best option may be a showdown within the next 8-10 months. I pray that freedom will win peacefully, but I am not an optimist either on a win or on it being peaceful.
Not a threat on the part of The Donald, he is merely describing the probable outcome. The Republican ex-stablishment is trying very hard to draw a bead on their own foot, and if they do happen to hit that target, they shall just as promptly attempt to shoot themselves in the OTHER foot.
The time is growing closer, but a decision on the part of the Republican ex-stablishment to EMBRACE The Donald would seem to be much the wiser course. Of course, maybe they LIKE the scent of blood in the water. Or just maybe all over the floor.
The rules of the Convention DO hold the selected delegates of each state to the candidate which won them in the primaries on the first ballot. The high two after the first ballot should be the only two in contention on the second ballot.
Making over the rules in the middle of the game sort of voids the Roberts Rules of Order.
The candidate that wins the majority should be the nominee, very simple.
Not sure what you're talking about. Proportional states are pretty much done at this point. Almost everything left is winner take all by state or district (which is virtually the same thing, if you win a state, you usually win all the districts). If Cruz can't get Kasich out so he gets a 2-man-race, Trump will have a huge lead going into the convention that will probably be unstoppable. If Kasich leaves today, Cruz can catch up to Trump in delegates.
So, DT really knows his supporters.
I think that says more about our country.
You are right.
Ballot down candidates will get slaughtered.
He is correct. Also, if he wins, there will be riots. In no manner or fashion can all of this end peacefully. The vacuum of values in this nation is about to slap it in the face.
No one’s going to win a majority.
Anybody know of a website with plans for making torches?
I want a really good American made one, not some flimsy Chinese piece of crap that’s going to burn my face off.
If Trump has double the total delegates of whoever is in second, and a corrupt brokered convention of GOPe machinations gives it to a third person, yes, you will see literally riots and folks trying to enter the convention itself to start throwing things in the street and mass arrests.
The Sanders people will be “protesting” Hillary at the Democratic convention - you will start to see them act out on Hillary shortly, most of these anarchists and communists and cop haters will be there at the Democratic convention, but there will be a few at the Republican convention, so if the GOPe tries to pull off a corrupt brokered convention, you will have Republican base direct action types not only storming the Republican convention, they will be confronting the anarchists as well and there will be fights breaking out.
I would not recommend the GOPe even trying anything.
Kasic will order out the state cops and have the National Guard mobalized outside the city standing by
That is the point. Only the stupidity of republicans could have screwed up this election to the point where Hillary would win. It was almost impossible for the GOP to lose it, but somehow, we have found a way.
Well there will always be some who will feel an election is stolen if their candidate doesn’t win.
I was contrasting it with the scenario that Trump gave, 1200 to 500 delegates. Pick the 500 delegate winner. That would be viewed poorly.
If it is 1100 to 1000 I think most people would view this as not stealing an election. The Trump people would not, however.
Here is the thing the rules say the winner has to have the majority of the votes not the plurality. If Trump is such a great deal maker I am sure this will not be a problem at all.
