Trump campaign blocks Politico reporter from victory rally
CNN Money ^ | March 16, 2015 | Dylan Byers

Posted on 03/16/2016 1:34:54 AM PDT by Pinkbell

Donald Trump's campaign blocked a Politico reporter from attending the candidate's victory rally on Tuesday night, continuing a troubling trend of denying access to reporters who write critically about Trump and his campaign.

Ben Schreckinger, who has been covering Trump for more than six months, was denied access to Tuesday night's "press conference" -- Trump did not actually take any questions -- despite the fact that the campaign had already given press credentials.

In blocking Schreckinger, the Trump campaign appears to have been following through on a threat it made last week to exclude Politico reporters from campaign events because it did not approve of their coverage.

Schreckinger and his colleagues also reported Tuesday morning that Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski -- who was recently accused of assaulting a female reporter -- had a "quick temper and heavy-handed leadership," which was becoming a source of concern among fellow Trump staffers.

In a statement to CNNMoney, Trump called Schreckinger "a dishonest, third-rate reporter with a failing outlet that will soon be out of business, hopefully."

Susan Glasser, the editor of Politico, responded by saying she was "saddened by the personal nature of the Trump campaign's attack on an excellent reporter, Ben Schreckinger."

"The campaign provided no explanation for barring our reporter from Donald Trump's speech tonight," Glasser told CNNMoney. "If this is the response to honest, fair, and sometimes critical reporting -- like today's piece on Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski — it certainly will not intimidate Politico as we cover the campaign in the days ahead."

Trump's campaign has blocked reporters from attending campaign events on several occasions, often in the wake of critical coverage. Reporters from The New York Times, The Des Moines Register, BuzzFeed, The Huffington Post, Univision and Fusion have all reported being blocked from Trump events.

That will make a good policy for White House press conferences from 2017 to 2025, and beyond.

From Politico in 2009:

To some media observers, it’s almost the definition of a “chilling effect” – a governmental attempt to steer reporters away from negative coverage – but the White House press corps has barely uttered a word of complaint.

Politico reported a story that with any investigation at all was shown to be a hoax perpetrated by other reporters. From the tone of this article, they still haven’t retracted that story. Why should they be allowed in?

Trump likes control! Should if affect you personally someday, it might not be so welcomed.

Well, maybe Trump won't follow the Bush model of allowing Helen Thomas to troll and disrupt his press conferences for years on end.

Bush thought it was about being bigger than that and above the fray, but he allowed it to get so bad that Helen Thomas’s trolling became a constant medias circus in and of itself.

It also signaled that Bush had a kick me sign permanently affixed to butt which allowed other false, vitriolic media coverage of bogus, media manufactured controversy like the Plame Affair to reach such a crescendo that it ultimately took down his entire legacy, enabled Obama’s election which destroyed his war on terror an has left the world in smoking ruins.

Trump is open about the fact that he respects and relishes hard ball, but if he is treated unfairly, pushed around and bullied or ambushed, he will push back , fight and punish those responsible.

Building a pubic reputation as person who fights back and will punish those who attack so badly that they regret ever starting that fight is going to be a good and even necessary personality trait for a President who follows President Obama because all of the worlds bad guys have gotten very used to running wild abusing America and it's allies, and committing atrocities and crimes against humanity with impunity.

They may think twice about doing so with Trump as president.

In fact, I think that Trump is intentionally crafting and telegraphing his “You Mess with the Bull, You get the horns” persona to develop a reputation world wide as an American President who will protect American interests, take American national security seriously, will not lead form behind , tolerate abuse of America and it's allies or stand by and watch as people, especially Americans, are beheaded and crucified.

It's very possible that Trump is, from the git go, intentionally crafting his pubic persona putting the world on notice that if elected, there will be a new Sheriff in town .

A “troubling trend”? Troubling for whom? I sure didn’t lose any sleep over it. Heck, I’d be fine if Trump barred ALL liberals from his rallies. After all, very few of us would welcome rabid rats into our parlors, would we?

It begets the question;

Why would Trump consort with known enemies? Why would you treat them to your victory celebration, when they will only write negatively about it?

Thes so-called journalists are nothing but democRAT apparatchiks, best to tell them to shove off.

The rope off behind the candidate Hillary, was for the reporters own protection.

Back away from Hillary’s gigantic toxic waste spot.

There were no questions asked. The Politico reporter can watch the video of the speech and write his story.

...not so hard to do.
