Ben Sasse says it's 'highly unlikely' that Trump will be Republican nominee
Omaha World-Herald ^ | March 15, 2016 | Joseph Morton

A recent poll by Victory Processing asked Nebraskans about Trump and Sasse. The poll's questions appeared aimed at gauging how Sasse's stance is playing with his constituents.

The results of the poll are not publicly available, nor is it clear who commissioned the poll.

The Nebraska Public Service Commission shows Victory Processing as having the same Grand Rapids, Michigan, address as Victory Phones, a vendor that Sasse's Senate campaign used for polling, fundraising and other services.

I think he is right, Cruz-Kasich-Rubio, will combine delegates and steal it. And in response on the second Tuesday in November, I will vote for Hillary and a straight Democrat ticket.

It’s not going to be a Rule 40 fight.

If a majority of delegates at the convention are committed to anyone but Trump, Trump won’t be the nominee. That’s the way majorities work.

Chances are overwhelming that Trump will have the necessary votes. For later states, it will be a straight up or down referendum on Trump as the nominee. They will absolutely know the stakes.

If they turn him down, he won’t have been as strong a candidate as imagined anyway.

Ben must have gotten his marching orders from Mitch. Both freshmen Sasse and Fischer have not met my expectations. Deb was even foolish enough to gush over Marco Rubio with her endorsement of him. Nebraska voters should send both of them home when their terms are up. Neither has the courage to speak of Obama or Mrs. Clinton the way they speak of fellow Republicans. The negative waves should be directed at their enemies, not their friends. But then again, I guess they are.

The later states include traditionally “blue” states......IL, NY, CT, NJ, PA.....where Trump is likely to do much, much better than Cruz.

Trump also appears to have a stranglehold in the South as well. It is getting harder to see where Cruz can pick-up enough delegates to overtake him.

The Omaha World-Herald is the primary daily newspaper of Nebraska and portions of southwest Iowa. It is based in Omaha, Nebraska.

The World-Herald was the largest employee-owned newspaper in the United States.[3] On November 30, 2011, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway announced plans to buy the newspaper.

<< “Why is Sasse a first year senator the out front guy on this?” >>

Sasse went to the Sea Island, GA cabal meeting.

On the last day of the conference, Sasse and Cory Gardner led a “conversation,” probably about Trump and how to take him out. (Most attendees had likely already gone home, except for The Cabal.)

After Sasse & Gardner’s brainstorming session, Karl Rove gave a little Powerpoint presentation about the McKinley election. Then everyone got back on their tax-payer-paid leased private jets and promptly commenced to carry out “Mississippi Treatment, Part 2.”

I’d love to know which one of the conference attendees was the Soros representative. And I wonder how much tax-payer money was in his suitcase when he left the resort.

I don’t think the hypothetical is that Cruz can overtake him outright. The scenario is that a majority would be willing to support anyone who is not Trump (Cruz would be the only realistic alternative), which is doubtful by itself given that delegates are well aware of the folks back home.

I meant to draw a line between the Sasse/Gardner/Rove wrap-up meetings and that long list of conference attendees.

IOW, we don’t know how many of those conference attendees stayed around until the last Cabal meeting on Sunday.

So when Trump is nominated, will you be voting for Hillary, ala your tag line?

My tagline, "ABT, Anyone But Trump," is about the Republican nomination, which is currently the race in question. Last I checked, Hillary is not running for the Republican nomination.

Beck writes: “The numbers show, head to head, Ted beats Trump 61-39.”

First of all, this is a state-by-state race. Many states have voted already and some don’t do a statewide vote, only caucuses. Regardless, to me it makes very little sense that supporters of Kasich and Rubio, the two most establishmentarian / liberal (depending upon how you look at it) candidates would bypass Trump, who is arguably ideologically more towards the middle overall, and overwhelmingly go to Cruz, who is purportedly / perceived by most to be the most conservative candidate by far. It makes more sense to me that a large number of Kasich’s and Little Marco’s supporters would stay home or go with Trump rather than vote for Cruz. It is difficult to comment because so many will disagree with where the candidates truly fit on the ideological spectrum, but I disagree with the idea that supporters of Kasich and Rubio are motivated only by opposition to Trump’s persona rather than to his ideas. Because to the extent they oppose his ideas, how likely are they to like Cruz’s policies any better?

Which is a long way of saying that Beck is crazy. We’ll see tonight but I don’t think Cruz will do very well among Republican primary voters in the less conservative states of the northeast, midwest and Calif. And we are at that point where “doing well” means able to actually win important states.

“America has never seen a presidential candidate like this before. Detractors point to his lack of political experience, his poor grasp of policy, his alleged autocratic leanings and his shady past. They believe this man without much of a political platform (but with interesting hair) has neither the qualifications nor the temperament to be president. Yet in defiance of conventional wisdom, he is leading his three main rivals in the race for the White House, and party bigwigs are at a loss how to respond. No, it’s not Donald Trump. His name is Andrew Jackson, and the year is 1824.”
