Ben Carson: Even if Trump's a bad president, it'll only be 4 years
Politico ^ | 03/15/2016 | Hanna Trudo

Ben Carson said on Monday that even if Donald Trump turned out to be a lousy president, he’ll only be in office for four years.

"Even if Donald Trump turns out not to be such a great president, which I don't think is the case, I think he's going to surround himself with really good people, but even if he didn't, we're only looking at four years as opposed to multiple generations and perhaps the loss of the American dream forever," Carson told Newsmax's Steve Malzberg.

The former Republican presidential contender and retired pediatric neurosurgeon endorsed Trump last week. Carson did not elaborate when asked about a potential role in a Trump administration, other than to say that he would be "doing things" in an “advisory capacity.”

"We haven't hammered out all the details," Carson said when pressed on whether he had been promised a Cabinet post or something else. "I'm not going to reveal any details about it right now because all of this is still very liquid."

Obama’s eight were the worst possible in history for the US...

Trump’s worst possible four years would still leave Obama’s eight in the dust.

It's sad that we've lowered our standards so much.

That is what we said about Obama in 2008, but then the GOP ran Romney in 2012.

I knew this guy years ago, he was incredibly brilliant, he missed a perfect score on the ACT test by one question, but he couldn’t deal with people. He was so smart and educated, but he had no idea to relate to people and any kind of public speaking with him was a disaster.
Carson reminds me of this guy a bit.

Being a neurosurgeon is no more a qualification to become president of the United States than is operating a strip club while bankrupting a gambling casino.

It's more likely Carson acknowledging Trump was willing to give a "fluid" promise of a position in government in exchange for a lukewarm endorsement.

...cause anything more than a "fluid" promise would be illegal.

Someone forgot to tell Mr. Carson not to mention that "fluid" promise of a "Maybe" adviser.

bankrupting a gambling casino

How does one do that??? Is that the "executive experience" we're looking for? Did they have negative interest jackpot rate slot machines or something?

LOL well, that endorsement is a real vote of confidence there!!!

He must really just hate Ted Cruz, that’s the only explanation. Why else would someone “endorse” someone else and then say “If he turns out to be bad, it’s only 4 years”?

Elect a president to find out what he’ll be like sure sounds a lot like “we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it”

Wonder if Dr. Carson is experienced in treating foot-in-mouth disease?

Dr Carson is extremely intelligent of this I have no doubt. (One doesn’t become a pediatric neurosurgeon at JHU by being “not terribly bright”). But he clearly lacks political acumen.

This was his appeal though. He wasn’t a professional politician. It showed at times; this is one of those times.

Better Trump than Hillary! I mean, really. She's political poison and would be way worse than 0bama unless he manages to pull something really egregious. Off to the rendering plant with her! ;)

I still can't believe in this day and age we have avowed socialists {communists!] trying to attain the Presidency! It's like, why? But I guess they were trying way back when I was young, so go figure...

What he says and what he will do might be the same, but it won’t necessarily be so. We will cross that bridge when we get to it. :)

I will be happy enough just to keep Hilary from getting into office. If Trump keeps his promises to boot, I will be very happy.
