Ted Cruz Eats Into Donald Trump’s National Lead

By David Sherfinski - The Washington Times - Tuesday, March 8, 2016

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is retaining his edge in the 2016 GOP race, but his advantage has dropped from 16 points over Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas to 9 points in a new national poll.

Mr. Trump had the support of 34 percent of registered Republicans and GOP-leaning independents in the Washington Post-ABC News poll out Tuesday, followed by Mr. Cruz at 25 percent, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida at 18 percent and Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 13 percent.

Mr. Trump also lost a head-to-head match-up to Mr. Cruz by 13 points, 54 percent to 41 percent, and trailed Mr. Rubio by 6 points, 51 percent to 45 percent.

Fifty-one percent said they would be satisfied with Mr. Trump as the GOP nominee, compared to 65 percent who said the same of Mr. Cruz, 62 percent for Mr. Rubio, and 56 percent for Mr. Kasich.

re’s why Trump would be an unmitigated disaster.

Those who demur, tell us why you think we are wrong. No insults (Trumpisms) please.

An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll last week found that two-thirds of voters overall — anti-Trump Republicans and Democrats — couldn’t see a circumstance under which they’d vote for Trump in November. A separate NBC News/SurveyMonkey tracking poll found a large percentage of nonwhite voters, the growing chunk of the electorate, were anti-Trump.

According to the survey, 86% of African American voters and 75% of Latino voters had an unfavorable view of Trump. All told, 7 in 10 nonwhite voters said they had a “very” unfavorable view of the man who, before Saturday, had won 14 of the 22 Republican contests.

I notice they didn’t poll any Democrats, so this is a flawed poll.
Thanks for playing, though.

Only thing Cruz has eaten into lately is a shat sammich.

And it is all over his shirt.

Cruz is not a leader. He had a chance to hold the left and Obama responsible for their decades long use of violence against the silent majority. HE DID NOT! I am disgusted. Go ahead support a career politician. You will once again be disappointed.

ROFL. This poll was conducted prior to the coordinated leftist-GOPe disruption of Trump's Chicago rally.

There aren't going to be new polls because voting will be done on Tuesday.

The illegal Canadian-Cuban fake Christian is going down.

“86% of African American voters and 75% of Latino voters had an unfavorable view of Trump”

At least 86% of Blacks and 75% of Hispanics won’t vote for any GOP nominee. Don’t see what difference any of this is supposed to make.

But hey, maybe Ted Cruz can carry more water for BLM/Bernistas/etc. and blame Trump for their violence.

“86% of African American voters and 75% of Latino voters had an unfavorable view of Trump”

Which was precisely the same numbers for Milquetoast Mitt.

Then why isn’t Cruz winning? How come the polling of MI showed Clinton winning by 20 points when she actually lost?

Problem with basing your perception on polling is polling can be manipulated by weighting. If you interview 20% very Conservative you get one result, if you poll 40% very Conservative you get a much different result.

Real simple answer to this is too look at actual votes rather then basing your perception of reality on polls.

Cruz is not winning, Republicans turning out much greater numbers of voters then Dems.

Those are REAL data points, not the polling data that may, or maynot be accurate

If 14% of black voters have a favorable view of Donald Trump, that’s an historical reversal of previous elections, likely enough to sway the general.

Cruz is doing surprisingly well and is still a real threat to Trump. I’m real worried about a brokered now.

I would *love* to have a peek at the “JournoList” discussions, arguments, panicked rants, etc., as they try to decide what to throw out there next.

If there are enough people who do not want to be saved from destruction, who do not want to work, who would rather be parented and enslaved all their lives, who are too ignorant to know what is good and what is just plain evil, who are so selfish that they’d not only sell their own soul, but all the rest of us too..
Then it’s time to ... I can’t think of anything to stop the ignorant masses if they are going to believe the lies and throw the truth to the wind. God help us.. and Please Come Quickly! We are DONE!!

I find it amusing that you are touting a week old poll that happened before Cruz came out in support of organized, violent, thugs disrupting Trump's rally in Chicago. That was the most tone deaf and stupid move Cruz could have made. It dropped Cruz's support here on Free Republic by over 25% in one night where we have mostly hardened Cruz supporters. We will find out on Tuesday what type of real effect this has had on the electorate in the states that are voting. I am guessing that Cruz just torpedoed his own campaign.
