Cruz: Trump Campaign Bears Responsibility For Creating Environment Encouraging Violence
Washington Free Beacon ^ | 3-11-2016 | Aaron Kliegman

Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) said Friday night that primary frontrunner Donald Trump’s campaign is responsible for creating an environment that encourages violence after a Trump rally was cancelled because clashes broke out when protestors entered the event.

Speaking at a press conference, Cruz told reporters he “thinks a campaign bears responsibility for creating an environment [of violence]. When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence, to punch people in the face, the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates.”

There are consequences when a leader tells followers to hit a person who is about to throw a tomato. Most people will hold off until something like that actually happens, but a few will only hear that it’s okay to fight, whether or not the other person throws a tomato or a punch.

Cruz is correct about the environment being up to the leader in the room; he’s also correct that the protesters are responsible for their actions. They are there to provoke violence for the sake of the cameras, and all it takes is to insult someone who’s hyped up from the rally and maybe some beers before he got there.

At a previous rally a person was being ejected by security. That person began punching bystanders. This is when Trump made his remark.

Cruz devoted one sentence to blaming the rioters in STL and CHI, and two paragraphs to blaming Trump for “creating an environment”. The rioters were not spontaneous, they arrived with a plan to prevent the Trump rally from occurring. They succeeded. They succeeded via intimidation and violence. THEY created the environment. THEY ALONE bear the blame.

Cruz saw an opportunity to smear his opponent and lost sight of reality.

Unfortunatrly, last night, your boy, Cruz, formally disqualified himself from any position of trust and responsibility in the governing of this Republic.

If we could equate an act of violence with every time a Trump supporter on Free Republic called me an idiot, lame, a$$hole, ignorant, and a barage of other verbal insults just because I support Ted Cruz, yes, most Trump supporters are mean and vindictive.
I only know a couple of Freepers I met at a rally. They have not attacked me. I have a right to my opinion but I’ve realized that there are those on this forum who would take that right from me if they had a chance and would probably throw a punch if given a chance.
I’m hoping my favorite site will come to it’s senses.

I thought Cruz Rubio Kasich at least one would stand for principle. I was wrong. They are all Elites

If no one saw it before, they should now.

This was their moment to shine and stand tall for America. Instead, they wilted.

Believe me, after tonight's debacle, you will never see or hear a Trump supporter say another word advocating Ted Cruz for VP, SCOTUS, or dog-catcher, as long as he lives.

Yup

I think this plays right into Trump’s hands. He is the classic law and order candidate. Voters will now feel even more anxious after these events and will be more not less likely to vote for Trump. The voters will be looking more and more for some version of the “strong man”. They will find it in Trump. Watching the other candidates pander to the mob and fold only cements this.

Cruz has this one backwards.

Yep - his words fall right in with "Benghazi was because of a video" or "The terrorists get understandably ticked off and go on massacre sprees because they get hurt by the words of those who dare insult their impotent god"...

Desperation will cause one to stray from the principles one claims to stand with - happening a lot right here as folks try to justify Cruz's attempt to find leverage.

Cruz now is a pawn working for Soros just as much as Soros’ blaacklivesmatter, La Raza, and muslim groups do.

Cruz now matches with the NY TIMES, Washington Post,Democratic Underground, talkingpointsmemo, Salon and the rest of the leftwing slime.

So true....when I heard Limbaugh yesterday desperately attempting to excuse Cruz’ put-down of Trump supporters as low information, ill-informed and un-engaged, it became painfully apparent that he’s deep in the bag for Lyin’ Ted. Good for that female caller for not backing down. El Rushbo seemed to back off and change his tune after that call - he was genuinely blown away, especially since the caller’s husband is an M.D.

Sad, but Rush is as much in for Lyin’ Ted as his pal Levin and nearly squeals with delight when he extols how fantastic Lyin’ Ted is.

Pathetic.
