The Donald Trump campaign on Friday night canceled a rally slated to take place in an arena at the University of Illinois at Chicago after protesters overwhelmed the event. The campaign cited safety concerns, given the tense confrontations between Trump protesters and supporters.
After the cancellation was announced, fights started to break out at the UIC Pavilion, CBS News' Sopan Deb reports.
Ahead of Trump's arrival, hundreds of demonstrators lined up outside the arena to protest the Republican presidential front-runner. Large groups of Trump opponents also occupied multiple sections inside the arena. The mix of Trump supporters and opponents created a tense atmosphere, and finally a spokesperson for the campaign announced the event was canceled....

The left-wing media, Soros-funded BLM and MoveOn may have set the stage for mayhem, and Mayor Rahm’s police were prepared to bash heads and say the blood was on Trump’s hands... but Trump alone made the decision to cancel it and spoil all their plans.
The lefties may have started it, but Trump stopped it. Singlehandedly, and without even speaking a word he proved himself to be the bigger man by temporarily sacrificing his free speech rights in order to safeguard the rights of those who would have protested and disrupted. He put the rights and well-being of people who oppose him ahead of his own - that is the kind of leader we need as President of the United States!

I'm the last one to complain about stories being posted multiple times. I work too, and often spot stories that I'm seeing for the first time, while others on the forum have been inundated with them all day long.
This one's different, though. There are threads plastered all over the place about it. One more thread won't do a thing to support the discussion.

Cruz is behind the times. What is happening are the historical forces clashing, one side lining up on the side of sovereignty and basic liberty and the other lining up on the side of socialism, revenge and tyranny.

Why would The Donald schedule a rally anywhere near Chicago? Pretty much none of his base lives there...he should have started with Illinois cities like Peoria, Springfield, Normal, Decatur, Champaign, etc.. The closest to Chicago I would have gone is perhaps Rockford, IL.
