It is amazing how many people are supporting Sen.Ted Cruz and do not know anything about his background involving the Bush crime family.
Most of the newsies, pundits, consultant, commentators, radio talkshow hosts, media, and political elites still do not get it.
They are trying to play politics as usual. That mold was broken by early July when Trump zoomed to the top and has remained their ever since. Much to the chagrin of the GOPestablishment.
All of the opposition rely on the same decades old talking points. It worked in the past to hoodwink the voters into electing the GOPestablishment candidate. It doesn’t seem to be working this time around — and the insiders do not understand why the paradigm is no longer working.
I love Trump posts that start out with scripture. It saves me from reading any further.
Conservatism has become a cult. There is a self appointed Sanhedrin filled with Pharisees who believe only they are pure enough to speak for the conservatives in this country. You must say so many Hail Reagans per day and of course you are the most pure with abortion, cutting taxes, pro second amendment and worship at the feet of Rush. Apparently there is a new tenant that you must be Conservative since birth or you are actually a liberal, there are no true conversions which asks what these preachers are trying to do? Only they can declare absolution.
A lot was made of Trump ‘not disavowing’ the KKK David Duke.
Cruz should be hounded to disavow Glenn Beck for his threat to kill Trump.
He could also turn out to be the ultimate insider. I guess we won’t know for about a year.

Conservatism is an ideology. Actually, at it's most basic, it is an epistemology: a framework to make sense of the world and how it works. It starts with certain assumptions (that free markets are more efficient than planned economies, that personal liberty leads to greater happiness, that private property is the most effective method of ensuring freedom, etc.) and attempts to build a social and legal framework to allow those processes to work.
Attacking "conservatism" in the service of any political candidate is a fool's errand. If you (or your candidate) is not conservative, then what are they? What system of thought or belief guides them? How will they decide between competing choices when attempting to create legal and social systems? These are important questions for "non-conservatives;" ones that never seem to get answered.
Now if, as I suspect, the term "conservative" is being used to describe a social or political group that calls themselves such, while not actually following those principles, then your argument is even more inane. Why would you validate Mitch McConnell or John McCain's claim to be a conservative while attacking them? If these people do not follow conservative principles, then the argument is that they are not "conservative," not that conservatism is bad because they call themselves such. It would be like denouncing "freedom" because Hillary Clinton asserted she was for freedom.
What if Trump is really telling the truth...?
What if he isn't? "Trust, but verify."

Question: What has Cruz built? Other than standing up in front of the Senate and railing against the institution that he is part of and benefits from, what laws has he been instrumental in passing that make life better for we, the unwashed?
Has he ever signed a payroll check other than to endorse his government check that comes every month? And, so on.
It is easy to point at Trump’s sins while ignoring the fact your wife makes over half a million per year from one of the biggest lobbyists in Moscow on the Potomac.
That is why Trump is beating Cruz in the debates. Cruz wins on wonk points while Trump states that it's time to clean out the filth in the stables. The voters can smell the filth from 3000 miles away.
