Jim, they are indeed intent on losing. I truly believe a lot of establishment GOP would rather Hillary be President while they pretend to be the "loyal opposition" so they can maintain the status quo, than have a true maverick Republican come in and demolish the current political paradigm. If politicians had to start doing what is best for the people instead of what is best for the politicians and the donor class, then the establishment loses their money, power and control.

Having said that I think the GOP-E is actually playing into Trump's hand. By treating him like an unwanted outider, they are burnishing his claim as a true outider who is going to end business as usual. It makes it easier for independents and some moderate Democrats to vote for him, along with disenfranchised Republicans who gave up voting years ago. If the establishment were to suddenly embrace him it would scare off a lot people. So while the GOP-E motives are treasanous, they are simply pouring more gas into the fire that is consuming them.

The RINO Establishment and the Democrats are one in the same. Same goals, same agenda.

That is correct. I sit corrected.

The problem was that the Washington DC based consultants who ran the campaign burned through the money very quickly and had no coherent message for the voters.

Walker hired a bunch of Romney people. Kiss of death for a campaign.

Since the GOPe fully intends on living in congress, employing their wives and third cousins in every government or lobbyist position they can find, it was their intention from the start to lose the White House. They are fully aware how much the electorate desires to keep congress and the White House opposing each other (thus tying up the government and keeping them busy and out of their lives.)

When they lined up all the cards to nominate Jeb, it wasn't because he could win the White House, it was so that they could go through the motions (also employing more family members in campaigns, pocketing big payments from the campaign and otherwise redistributing America's wealth into their pocket.)

It has never been about winning the White House - and here is Donald Trump, and their internal numbers show that he could not only win, but win HUUUGE in the general.

I can hardly blame them; they are simply fighting for their families. They know a Trump administration would go after these do nothing family members who have always been protected by their nepotistic relationships to those in power in congress.

They know that Trump will actually demand responsible management in government, not just a chair being warmed by the latest fling by whomever happens to work in the speaker's office.

Hence why they're pushing Rubio and even, ugh, should they have to, Cruz. Their numbers show none of these others will win. Their jobs aren't at risk - and really, what does the campaign matter? It's just someone else’s money. They'll spend it, throw big parties, have fancy dinners, and shrug come November that they at least tried, and go back to their cushy government lives.

The whole Washington DC Cabal is doing its best to try to keep an outsider from seeing what is behind the curtain. That is for sure.

I had high hopes for Scott Walker.
What he accomplished in Wisconsin needs to happen in
many places across this country.

Unfortunately he too is a tool of the establishment.
They told him to get out of the way and clear the tracks for Jeb! He saluted and said “Yes, Sir!”

>>there is only one party in DC, its called the establishment party. The two party system has been a scam on the American people since 1913.

It is the Progressive party. It has become the establishment simply because it has been patient, moving slowly and under cover for 100 years until it controlled everything political, corporate, and academic under one of its two names, Republican and Democrat. Now, it is ready to unmask. Today was that day when they finally told us that we don’t matter to them because we are nothing but serfs to be used and discarded. We are animals on the human farm to them.

Same as it ever was. For years, our greatest political problem has been the GOP.

Agreed. Not only can Bernie win now, but even Hillary might just get elected — thanks to the incredible Republican Destruction Derby. Nowadays, it’s: “Im not a member of any organized political party, I’m a ......Republican”. ( with apologies to Will Rogers). Very sad

Some history about the GOP and SCOTUS.

During its post Civil War political ascendancy, the GOP was promoter and ratifier of Amendments 14,15,16 and 17. Additionally they nominated and confirmed virtually all of the SC Justices. This gang was instrumental in the rulings that crushed States Rights and centralized power in DC.

Fast forward to 1952. Eisenhower gave us Brennan and Warren; Nixon/Blackmun; Ford/Stevens; Bush/Souther. All were five of the most radical left wing justices in our history. Remember that the next time some republicrat type insists that the GOP is a party of strict constructionists.

I can’t of less influential politicians than Romney and McCain. Maybe Jeb Bush. Why does the GOPe think they can influence anything with these guys?

if Mitt and the RINO’s are successful in taking down Trump, next they will come after Cruz.

Too bad so many here seem to ignore that fact.

Look, Trump will get the bulk of Cruz’s support with him or without him. If Cruz honestly is what he claims to be, he’s on the same side as Trump. It makes sense for him to make peace.

Between those three men, they've raised billions for the GOPe. So, who can they influence? The people who give them money.

Like the corporate boy scouts, nothing, including protecting those you are supposed to serve, is more important than getting that cash. Cash that doesn't go towards serving those they are supposed to represent, but paying salaries, retirements, benefits, etc of those out there getting the money.

Ted will have his day in the sun if he can shake off it’s predisposition to trust establishment people around him. I do believe he has good core values. This day in the sun he will not find this election cycle.

They sure are! Scheming to force a brokered convention to deny the top vote-getter the candidacy is exactly the kind of behavior which has fueled Trump’s rise.
