Super Tuesday has gotten off to a not-so-super start for Donald Trump - a state appeals court has denied his bid to toss out a lawsuit that charges his Trump University was a fraud.
In a unanimous ruling, a four judge panel of the state Appellate Division said the state Attorney General's office is "authorized to bring a cause of action for fraud" - despite the billionaire's claims to the contrary.
Lawyers for Trump and his now-defunct school had contended that Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's suit should be tossed because the statute of limitations on the case had expired.
Schneiderman charged Trump University, which operated between 2004 and 2010, was a sham that ripped off students, beginning with a "free" seminar.
The suit said "although Trump University speakers represented that the three-day seminar would teach students all they needed to know to be successful real estate investors, the instructors at those three-day seminars then engaged in a 'bait and switch,' telling students that they needed to attend yet another seminar for an additional $5,000 in order to learn more about particular lenders."
The AG's suit charged that through "their deceptive and unlawful practices, (Trump and school) intentionally misled over 5,000 individuals nationwide, including over 600 New Yorkers, into paying as much as $35,000 each to participate in live seminars and mentorship programs with the promise of learning Donald Trump's real estate investing techniques."
It also charged they "repeatedly deceived students into thinking that they were attending a legally chartered 'university'" and "intentionally misrepresented, through advertisements and oral misrepresentations, that prospective students would be taught by successful real estate 'experts' who were 'handpicked' by Mr. Trump when, as alleged by petitioner, not a single instructor was actually handpicked by Mr. Trump, not a single instructor was actually handpicked by Mr. Trump."

I read all through the NYS Education Laws. Not so....
It means his involvement went beyond just a name licence.
There you go America, prime example of how to spin.
See this mean ole Prosecutor jumped into his "way Back" machine and went back in time to write a law that said you can't just claim you are a University because in 2016 Donald Trump is gonna be running for President and we need a got cha law to pin him on because his fraud isn't really fraud...
Wow. It's no wonder Barack Obama was elected TWICE!
re hillary, i was playing devils advocate. I think she definitely belongs in prison.
You said....
It’s what his supporters “Feel” about any issue that matters.
Correction:
It’s what Donald Trump tells his supporters they should feel about any issue that matters
“It means his involvement went beyond just a name licence.”
No it doesn’t, you really should not comment on legal matters you have no idea about. He could legally say that by referring in reality to the person whom he sold the license to. You simply are trying to destroy the name of a good man because you are one of the sheep the Republican party has always counted on to do as their will.
So I have seen many twists and turns during the election cycles but this is worse than anything I have witnessed.
It's just unbelievable. Like telling a two year old fire is hot...
The whole thing sucks.
When Trump started running, i loved most of what he said. But as time passed, he started looking more and more like a bully. I honestly wondered if he was trying to turn off enough people that he could drop out a get back to the life he loves. But people simply would not let go. And he just gets .ore and more goofy in his comments and attitude.
I honestly cant take him seriously any more. I also think that if he DOES win, he’ll damage tbe r’s the way obama damaged the d’s. I also think he would be a bull in a china closet refgarding foreign affairs. In today’s world, the risk is WWIII.
Which is why I’m “Cruz or lose.”
Right. That is why there are (3) That's Three to you living in rio lindi lawsuits in Two different states. One I think was giving RICO and class action status claiming Trump University committed fraud.

You will find it interesting.
Yes , because it’s all the attendees fault but not the fault of the guy who created the phony weekend University. Every successful business man gets sued for fraud once in a while.
_____________________________________________________________
You are correct.
My wife and I have rental properties and we have flipped a house or two and thought we might go to one of these “Seminars” to see what we could learn for “free”.
Well we could have taught the free seminar and probably the next one that cost thousands of dollars. We didn't go past the free since we saw what it was. A smart person could have gone to the library and checked out a few books and learned more than the seminars.
All the above being said, there was useful information to be had that could definitely lead you to getting rich in real estate if you were willing to do the prerequisite work, the work is substantial and if you were willing to pay for it you could get enough to be successful in short order. But you could also get it for free at the library if you were willing to crack a few books.
I would have not called the process a “scam” but it was pretty close to it. If you have any brains you won't fall for it but if you are stupid, well there is always someone willing to take your money if you are stupid enough to give it to him.
Do the good men you know often get sued for fraud?
along with your Mouse Ears from Disney University
“Right. That is why there are (3) That’s Three to you living in rio lindi lawsuits in Two different states. One I think was giving RICO and class action status claiming Trump University committed fraud.”
There can be three dozen, doesn’t change the facts.
So because the attendees were foolish, that makes Donald innocent of fraud?
We're going to have professors and adjunct professors that are absolutely terrifc. Terrific people. Terrific brains. Successful. The best. We are going to have the best of the best. And, honestly, if you don't learn from them, if you don't learn front me, if you don't learn from the people that we're going to be putting forward, and these are all people that are handpicked by me, then, you're just not gonna make it
As the Trump supporters would post...
“Do the good men you know often get sued for fraud?”
All successful men and women get sued by those who want to take some of their money from them. Fraud is as good a claim as any other...and particularly when one is running for President...more leverage for a bigger pay off in settlement.
Whew! That’s a relief.
Here's where your B.S. meets the truth. The DATE the lawsuit was filed was YEARS before Donald declared. Funny how facts get in the way like that...
