“All you Cruzers up until a few weeks ago were saying Trump was your second choice.”

I don’t believe I’ve said Trump was my second choice, I’ve said I don’t vote for liberal democrats regardless of what label the run under nor do I vote for those who are likely mentally unstable or who have severe personality disorders.

Is your candidate so weak that you feel you must destroy other candidates in order to make him look better?

my understanding is that most delegates in this country are chosen by the party

"Chosen by the party" does not mean that the state level version of Reince Priebus leans bank in a chair, smoking a cigar, saying, okay Mr. Donor, you are going to go as a Trump delegate, but on the second ballot, you go for Mitt Romney.

In some states, slates of delegates run with a candidate. In Texas, Rick Perry would certainly be a Cruz delegate if he wants. Some states vote for the delegates themselves. In other states, delegates are selected by the candidate who won the delegates through his own organziation.

The Cruz campaign has been working on organizing delegates not only for the national convention, but for the state conventions as well. We have a much larger pool than what is needed. Those who donate to the Cruz campaign would certainly get consideratio, so would county chairs, and so would worker bees. Trump certainly has the means to ensure that he will get Trump minded delegates, as he should. Just 10 days ago we had our big meeting to select delegates to the county convention, which in turn sleects delagtes to the state convention.

Here's the problem for armchair conservatives. If you don't go to the county/town meetings, you are not in the game. Sometimes you will see a candidate who is on the ballot, but doesn't have a large enough slate of delegates. If the candidate happened to win the vote, only the delegates on his slate could be selected. THEN , he could lose delegates.

Go to YouTube. Look at some videos of the 1976 Republican convention, where Foprd beat Reagan by about 75 votes, and tell me ANY delegate in that room was going to switch from Reagan if there had been a second ballot.

Delegates could theoretically be bought off with political promises, or some horse trading (VP pick, etc) I don't see any Cruz delegates caving on that. I don't see any Trump delegates doing it either. Heck, I don't see Carson delegates doing it. Rubio delegates, well . . . Kasich delegates ...the same.

We have a huge advantage. We have no interest in maintaining the power structure of the Republican Party as it presently exists. The rats are being flushed out. We will make notes of Allies, Enemies and Frenemies (enemies who might be willing to cooperate against a more dangerous third enemy).

I heard there were 3 men lined up in a taco bell in houston to use the restroom behind Cruz,it was the longest line that ever formed to follow Cruz.

Yep. I will be sad. Sad that conservatism is dead and has been replaced with populism. Sad that fools have chosen to abandon conservative principles and elect a mercurial clown with no compass. Sad that he may get beat in the general election, or that - if he doesn’t - his foolishness in office will destroy perceptions of conservatives for a generation, even though he isn’t really conservative. Sad that conservatives had a choice and they threw it away on Trump.

Yep. Sad day, indeed.

You Cruz girls & boys better watch what you say & who you vote for....if Cruz backs out of this race....the Republican establishment hates him and will have nothing to do with him. He has only one option....to kiss and make up with Donald Trump, endorse him, and bring his voters with him where they belong!!! How many of you Cruz lovers will vote for Mitt Romney? That question may be the biggest joke question of all eternity!!! I notice...Mr. Cruz has been backing off the bad mouthing of Donald Trump, the last day or so. Interesting!!!

Shucks...if Chris Christie can endorse Donald Trump....why not your Ted Cruz?

“in October that during an interview with Larry King, Trump admitted that his presidential immigration policy would be “something with heart.” When asked why he wasn’t showing that more compassionate side on the campaign trail, he was pretty clear:
Maybe I wouldn’t be doing as well in the polls.”

Like being lied to about your candidate’s main issue?

Trump loses in the fall in a landslide of historic proportions. He takes the Senate and maybe the House with him. End result of a Trump nomination? Hillary Clinton becomes President with a friendly Congress and can get whatever she wants passed, any nominees confirmed.

My vote. Mine to waste.
I’m not going to vote for billionaire carnival barker who was a pro-abortion, pro-amnesty, pro-gun control, pro-single payer, pro-imminent domain Democrat before he became a ‘Pubbie. Not in the Primary, anyway.
Can the Koolaide get any more ridiculous?

So with his new 20,000 democratic voters why would Trump even need my vote? Seem like he should be able to beat Hillary without my help.

Thanks for the long explanation...I was wondering about that.

As it is, it’s beyond us now - we’ll see how this ends.

“So, what you are saying is that we Cruz supports must submit to the will of Trump. Kneel before him and pray he allows us to live.”

If that’s your take. My take is that if Trump doesn’t win the nomination on the first ballot, Cruz will find himself THROWN OUT ON HIS ASS at the convention, as the GOPe installs Romney, Jeb, or Linda, ONCE AGAIN, to be our nominee.

When more than a few polls say that Trump would lose head to head against HRC that tells me that Trump isn’t all that you think he is.
Cruz Vs HRC. Cruz wins.
But since the GOPe hates both Trump and Cruz, you may be right. And that would be the death knell of the republic.

You don’t SERIOUSLY think that the GOPe WOULD EVER let Cruz run in November? It will likely be Romney, but maybe Jeb or Linda.

Or maybe you don’t care, as long as Trump is stopped?

Its like this. I don’t like Trump but if he does get enough delegates and somehow the GOP screws him out of the nomination and Mitt squirms his way in, I will support Trump in the 3rd party.
how did Mitt become a elder statesman for the GOP? he was a failed candidate, he is squishy on almost everything, he just oozes swarminess where ever he goes. Cruz, Trump, Rubio and everyone else fought tooth and nail thru the process. They spent and sweated and went thru mountains of BS. And for the GOP to just say” Screw Trump” after he gained everything needed to be nominated is freaking wrong. I may not like Trump, but he, and Cruz, would deserve better than being shafted by cheating SOBs that are running, and ruining, the country.
