Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has assured Senate candidates running for reelection that they can run ads against Donald Trump even if he wins the GOP nomination for president.
According to the New York Times, senators attending private lunches with the Majority Leader have been advised to take the position that Donald Trump will lose badly in the general election and should prepare themselves for a Hillary Clinton presidency.

Trump has already done an incredible job driving a stake through the heart of “Political Correctness.” Everyone — whether they support him or not — has to thank him for that. People are speaking more freely than they have in years. It’s refreshing.

McConnell is realizing that Trump’s cannon fire against the Washington elite of both parties is having effect on the low-information voters.
McConnell is scared the gravy train is about to stop running.

When the Republicans took over Congress in a landside when Clinton was President and Gingrich became House Leader, Clinton had the decency to announce he got the message. It really sucks when the Republicans have less decency for their own side.
