Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has assured Senate candidates running for reelection that they can run ads against Donald Trump even if he wins the GOP nomination for president.

According to the New York Times, senators attending private lunches with the Majority Leader have been advised to take the position that Donald Trump will lose badly in the general election and should prepare themselves for a Hillary Clinton presidency.

Mitch was re-elected in 2014, when Americans voted in 9 GOP Senators, which shocked everyone in DC.

Rove and Preibus didn’t even have a plan for that, but the public truned the Senate back over to the GOP.

And they promptly squandered it in Dec. 2014 with the omnibus bill, wasted all of 2015, and then passed a two year budget in Dec. 2015 that gave Obama everything he wanted.

This was not known when McConnell was re-elected.

Trump gets in, McConnell will play ball or be forced out.

McConnell has not dealt with a Trump before.

“If Mitch is still Majority Leader then Trump won’t get anything accomplished.”

Well, if he tries being an obstructionist, he won’t know what hit him when Trump lights him up with televised broadcasts from the Oval Office.

Trump’s candidacy has removed the “silent” from the “silent majority”....

McConell might have some conflict of interest if it is true that his wife has links to China.

Somehow I have always thought McConnell’s marriage to Elaine Chao was, well, “convenient”, if you catch my drift.

“This article sounds like BS.”

You are correct. This doesn’t smell right.
McConnell is a lot of things but he isn’t stupid.

When we ran McCain, WE GOT CLOBBERED in Congress - to the point that Obama was able to get the 60 Senate votes he needed to pass Obamacare.

When we ran Reagan (another candidate loathed by the GOPe), WE TOOK THE SENATE and made huge gains in the House.

The HISTORY IS CLEAR HERE, if people would bother to research it.

I remember Chip & Dale. One of the chipmunks had a favorite word to reply to his pal, the word was ‘INDUBITABLY!”. That’s how I learned that word. The stuffy formality of this chipmunk used to crack me and my sisters up everytime.

...they stayed home rather than support the GOP's pathetic loser of a nominee.

Yet, he would have been infinitely better than the jOkeass we got.

You mean you too were taken in by GWB? But changing registration is potentially a bad idea, depending on the state.

"Somehow I have always thought McConnell’s marriage to Elaine Chao was, well, “convenient”, if you catch my drift."

That's a major reason McConnell should never be trusted.
The guy is totally owned.

I live in Maine, always vote for the GOP candidate, with one exception.....

In 2014 I did not vote for Susan Collins for the U.S. Senate. I wrote in a local Republican who had lost his bid for a seat in the Maine state senate in a previous election cycle.

I had to change my registration anyway in the summer of 2006, because I had moved from one town here in Maine to another town.
