I never did get to see the CV - 6 but I saw the nuke Enterprise in San Diego bay circa 1962. That thing is HUGE, man!

You know, I had the great pleasure of meeting and getting to know the U.S. Enterprise's first Captain after it was commissioned Nuc in 1961,
Vice Admiral Vincent Paul de Poix. He was appointed to the position by Admiral Nimitz himself!
He was long retired when I met him and did work for him as an electrician at his home back in 2003 in Albany, Oregon.
You should of seen the pictures on his walls and heard the stories he told.
I feel honored to have met him, a true American Hero!
