Donald Trump Bashes Ted Cruz for Missed Vote: 'So Important to Audit the Federal Reserve'

GOP frontrunner Donald Trump went after GOP rival Sen. Ted Cruz for missing a Senate vote on a bill that would have audited the Federal Reserve.

"It is so important to audit The Federal Reserve, and yet Ted Cruz missed the vote on the bill that would allow this to be done," Trump posted on Twitter on Monday afternoon.

Cruz missed a vote on legislation in the Senate that reportedly would have audited the Federal Reserve, as the Guardian noted, as did former Rep. Ron Paul to campaign for his son Sen. Rand Paul.

Paul referenced Cruz's missed vote, previously telling Iowans, "That's not the type of leadership we need in the White House."

Ben Jacobs, a reporter for the British newspaper The Guardian, reported Cruz has attempted to gather support from libertarian minded Republicans. "However, by skipping the vote on auditing the Fed, Cruz risks jeopardizing some of the credibility he has built in [the libertarian] faction of the Republican party. Auditing the Federal Reserve has long been an animating cause of Paul and his supporters and it has taken on major symbolic significance," Jacobs wrote.

Let’s just say that Trump focuses his hits on Rube and takes him out.
What next? You will go either way? Cruz or Trump?

You are just worried that Trump is going to give it to Rubio.

Possible. But I think it is unlikely that Rubio will beat Trump if it comes down to it.

At this point, I am on hold and waiting for after Super Tuesday to make up my mind on Cruz or Trump.

Trump is 10 steps ahead of them .. Rubio’s time is coming and Trump will shred him when it’s necessary ...Cruz is almost toast

Well, if you are leaning Trump at all , I would go for it ... the stronger his showing, the harder it will be for the GOPe to try and deny him ...I truly don’t believe there is any path forward for Cruz ... the Rubio /Jeb faction won’t allow Cruz to ascend ... Trump is overpowering the GOPe against their will ... the more votes for Trump, the better

From http://fortune.com/2016/01/14/ted-cruz-wants-to-audit-the-federal-reserve/ :

I strongly support auditing the Fed. Indeed, I was an original co-sponsor of Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill. Unfortunately, it was clear early on that yesterday’s vote wasn’t going to succeed (it fell 7 votes short). And, at the same time that the vote was scheduled, I had longstanding commitments to be in New Hampshire - for a Second Amendment rally, and a 1500- person State of the Union town hall. If my vote would have made a difference in it passing, I would have cancelled my campaign events to be there. Because the vote was not going to succeed, I honored my commitments to be with the men and women of New Hampshire.

As President, I look forward to signing Audit the Fed legislation into law.

Both Paul and Trump pretended outrage, but Cruz knew his vote wasn’t going to affect the outcome. He wrote an op-ed back in 2014 about auditing the Fed.

They were 7 votes short of the needed 60 votes and it wouldn’t have mattered if Cruz voted or not.""""....

Thanks for that detail, so what's the point about Cruz missing the vote, it was doomed to fail anyway, as he knew it would.

My gosh they pick up on some the most idiotic things to criticize Cruz for. But hey, it he Trump cult after all.

Cruz is genuine, he is sincere and a great constitutional Conservative Christian man. You will not find one better or more brilliant than he in any year.

Every one that went after Trump failed and dropped out. Cruz was smart enough not to go after Trump at the start, but like others Cruz will drop out after going after Trump

NO you don't need us, your super star is the almighty supreme commander and his force will lead him over the line. You don't need us, the nastiness of Trump supporters has soured many of us, unceasing on trash talk about Cruz.

It may have been a day, when that thought would be considered, but not anymore. You want Cruz out, so be it. Take Rubio then.

Can’t speak for every Cruz supporter but the LIES that Trump has told about Cruz will keep me from EVER supporting him. This woman can also detect fraud, and Trump is as big of a fraud as our last hopey changey guy....I don’t want perfection. I just want a president who I can feel proud of—like most of us felt about Reagan when he said, “Tear down this wall” or when he spoke so eloquently after the space shuttle blew up. Or when George W. Bush climbed the rubble at the World Trade Center...Ted Cruz has that type of grit, integrity and determination and will stand for American citizens, no matter what. He stood alone in the well of the Senate and fought to defund Planned Parenthood. No other Senator cared enough to take a stand with him. He is who we need to lead our nation down the right path once again.

Just remember and please keep in mind , Trump does not have to be doing any of this ..he has a perfect life - beautiful wife, beautiful family , money /success ... he is truly concerned about our future and I believe he has put himself at great risk by doing what he is doing ..I hope you will reconsider

The Fed’s rent charges end up in the national debt, for me, my children, and grandchildren to pay.
