Last week nasty anti-Trump robocalls started running in South Carolina. Donald Trump accused the Cruz camp of being behind the calls.
Of course, Senator Cruz denied having anything to do with the ads.
But it was a lie.
And now there is proof that a Cruz PAC is behind the nasty anti-Trump and anti-Rubio robocalls.
The Washington Post reported:
Natalie Barrett, a 53-year-old schoolteacher from Westminster, got a robo-call earlier this month and ended up furious.
It started off simple enough, an automated man’s voice asking her age and gender, then quizzing her on which Republican candidates she liked. But when she selected Sen. Marco Rubio as one of her choices, she said, things got nasty.
“That’s when he said, ‘Did you know that Marco Rubio and the Gang of Eight are for amnesty?’” she recalled in a phone interview. “And then the gentleman said he’s for letting 11 million illegal immigrants stay in the U.S. and that he was for letting Syrians cross the borders freely.”
Barrett said she found the call — which continued to say negative things about Rubio before taking shots at Donald Trump for being a supporter of eminent domain — to be “negative” and “unfair,” but she couldn’t figure out right away who it was from. The voice said the poll was conducted by some place called Remington Research.
She told her Rubio-supporting friend about the call; her friend told the campaign. They said they knew exactly what Remington Research was: a consulting firm started by Sen. Ted Cruz’s campaign manager, Jeff Roe.
“These tactics are becoming all too common in this race and indicative of our opponents’ campaigns that are willing to say or do anything to win an election,”

UPDATE (3:24 p.m.): Responding to Gowdy's comments, Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler criticized the Rubio surrogate for "throwing around wild accusations without any evidence whatsoever," pointing specifically to the Facebook page, which he said the Cruz campaign had nothing to do with
"This is called a smear campaign, and it's beneath the dignity of a sitting member of the House of Representatives," Tyler said before asking, "does the Marco Rubio campaign really believe it's going to smear it's way to victory?"
This is a smear by Rubio's team against Cruz about a facebook page that was created by no telling who. For all we know, somebody from the Trump campaign could have done it.
Yeah, we don’t need any more of McCain apologizing for a radio host calling Obama “Hussein” and him telling his town halls Obama would make a good President.
We need hardcore robocalls saying Hillary is a secret Muslim lesbian communist.
There’s something/someone with deep pockets behind this all.

Ultimately, this all plays into Trump’s hands. When he challenges Cruz’s eligibility somewhere within the jurisdiction of the 9th Circuit... he now will have ample justification and few will blame him.
All Trump has to do then is file a suit that has enough merit to not get dismissed. During the court battle his team must present enough “evidence” that on appeal a couple liberal judges will have enough wiggle room to boot Cruz out of the race. The third more conservative judge will write a dissenting opinion. It will get appealed to the Supreme Court where it then will either be refused or be deadlocked... either way the decision of two liberal judges from the most liberal Federal Circuit in the country will now make the decision.
It is sad but true. Thank the Republican Senate for confirming 300 hand picked Obama judges and John Poindexter for luring Justice Scalia to his “ranch” with a free offer.

He’s flip-flopped on almost everything he’s ever said to make himself more palatable to GOP primary voters.

Every time Cruz states a fact even a direct quote.... Trump won’t let him finish and calls it a lie.
