Ronald Reagan didn’t do it for himself. He acted out of concern where the country was headed.
And he would be disgusted by the tone of this process by both sides.
he was a class act.

I think the (PJ) author's conclusion is flawed. Trump is seeing a couple things that bother him, one is what he characterizes as lies from Cruz, about Trump's position, and the other being the "cloud of potential ineligibility" over Cruz's head.

Of those two things, both arguably "wrongs," one is detrimenting Trump, and that is what he characterizes as misrepresenting his position. For example, Cruz says Trump is anti-RKBA, for single payer health care, and pro-choice.

I'm pretty sure Cruz is at least annoyed by the lawsuits popping up that challenge his eligibility, and that he would not welcome a onslaught of them from an opponent on the ballot. So, Trump is using the "stick" part of "carrot and stick" persuasion, in an attempt to get Cruz to temper his allegations about Trump's policy positions.

Assuming for the sake of argument that Cruz is ineligible, what does the fact that he is running anyway, say about him?

Ultimately, the author is taking a one-sided view of the issue, and has produced what is essentially an advocacy piece. He's entitled to, of course. But the author is not objective, and fails to make his argument using logic and reason.

-- I'd like to know where all the money is going, that Trump's campaign gets from that big "donation" button, on his website, since he claims every time he speaks, that he's self-funded. --

Here’s a new Cruz ad hitting the Donald...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aZuRoBtwo8

So, why has Trump not filed his lawsuit yet?

Maybe, he’s one of those politicians, “all talk and no action”?!!!

Or, maybe he’s really a pussy?!!!

Cruz knows a heck of a lot more about the law and about the Constitution than I do and than you do and certainly more than Trump does.

Cruz believes he is eligible, based on his legal knowledge, or he would not be running.

Trump huffed and puffed about obama’s eligibility and then . . . nothing. Just another Trumpertantrum.

Trump got the Obama crew to produce a 'born in the USA' birth certificate... Nobody is going to produce a 'born in the USA' birth certificate for the Cruz... After Obama, Spitzer and now Cruz, Harvard Law School has lost its once hallowed brand..

Some people are born to be deceived...

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t ALL the candidates trying to win?”

No, no, no ... everyone except Trump has completely selfless motives that are completely ego-free, with zero vanity or dreams of public approval entering into their thoughts at all. Would have thought you would have heard of that by now.

Nobody but God is perfectly objective. I find it better for peace of mind not to pretend.

As for your “assuming Cruz is ineligible” what does it say that he’s running anyway, what that tells me is he sincerely believes he has a legally sound, good faith argument that he really is eligible. Reading more into it than that goes to mind-reading. You can’t prove nefarious intent without at least some scintilla of evidence. Without evidence, all I can see in your suggestion is defamation by innuendo.

Peace,

SR

If you didn’t watch the press conference Trump did..I think it was yesterday, Then you are blowing more BS smoke. The press conference is on Youtube for anybody who cares about truth over this kind of slinky BS.

Trump will tell you himself what’s behind that. Otherwise, these types of reports are nothing more than swamp gas and for no good purpose. Probably from Cruz lowlife shills.

On the other hand, let’s pretend Cruz wins the nomination, and he wins the presidency. what will the democrats do to disqualify him?????

What was it someone said about ‘self’ serving???

One did in IL and the state courts slapped them and said he was indeed qualified. The trumpsters quickly poo poo’d it and said “well ya, it’s a IL court, they are standing up for Obama to!’

Pretty rich Trump threatening to sue Cruz on the birther issue because of Cruz allegedly lying, when evidently it was Trump who was lying when he previously assured Cruz that the Democrats would likely file a lawsuit, but that he himself wouldn’t. Or maybe that’s not a lie, just a broken promise, in which case there’s no need to think that he’d break other promises he’s made whenever he gets his feathers ruffled in the future, right?

-- Cruz believes he is eligible, based on his legal knowledge, or he would not be running. --

I come to the opposite point of view, and not without reason. It is common knowledge that the courts and Congress will not enforece the NBC clause, so he might as well run, he won't get caught.

It's like a stretch of 50 MPH highway that you know is not patrolled. You can get away with running drag races, occupying the wrong lane, and going 150 MPH - nobody is going to catch you.

Trump has a huge advantage in filing a lawsuit over eligibility at this point. Not only does he have standing, which usually derails this type of challenge, he also gets to pick his forum. Trump can literally have his attorneys study every district court and every circuit court of appeals in the country, decide which of them is most likely to rule in his favor, and file his suit there. Since the SCOTUS is now shorthanded and liable to 4:4 rulings, allowing the lower court’s ruling to stand, the case will likely end in the circuit of Trump’s choosing.
