Who Obama might nominate to replace Scalia on Supreme Court

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans are near-unanimous in demanding that President Barack Obama leave it to his successor to nominate a candidate to fill the Supreme Court seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia. But the president insists he plans to come forward with a nominee — and that there's plenty of time for the Senate to weigh in.

That sets up what could be an epic election-year clash between Obama and Republicans who say they'll refuse to vote for his nominee, who could reshape the court for decades to come.

So who will Obama pick?

The White House had prepared for the possibility of liberal Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg or Stephen Breyer retiring — but less so for a sudden vacancy of one of the court's staunch conservatives like Scalia, said a former administration lawyer with knowledge of current White House planning. Now the White House is scrambling to put together a "short list" of candidates to be fully vetted, said the former official, who requested anonymity to discuss private conversations.

The biggest question facing Obama: whether he and his team feel there's any realistic chance they can persuade Republicans to allow a vote.

He’ll go Afro-American, so he can play the race card saying the pubbies are denying because of race, while helping to get out the black vote for HRC or Bernie.

Local Boston stations are reporting that one Deval "Couple Deval" Patrick, former affirmative action Governor of my beloved Gay State (and longtime buddy of our Community Organizer-In-Chief),is near the top of the list.

In short,to describe him as a worthless pig would be an insult to swine worldwide.

He should nominate Ted Cruz.

Think about that for a minute. Cruz is the Senate Judiciary Chairman. He would have to recuse himself from the process, even the final vote.

It would make for even more attacking theater on the GOP side and even the liberals/progressives/socialist/communists could go after him.

The GOPe hates him, his colleagues can't stand him, except for a very few. None of them will vote to approve him.

The nomination would be a political liability for him as he campaigns. It would also take him off the campaign trail to testify at the Senate Judiciary and the Dims could drag that out for weeks.

I don’t particularly care whom Obama nominates. It is certain to be an evil, agenda-driven totalitarian, so that nominee must be stopped. With Mitch McConnell and the inside-the Beltway GOP there to protect us . . .

He’ll try to appoint the most “progressive” liberal he can find. Count on it.

I’m really concerned that the current Senate will actually approve a lame duck appointment out of fear of the race card.

We know for sure it will be a black person, ruling out other races, especially whites.

Obama likes women. He’s afraid of men. His nominee will be a woman, or a facsimile of a woman, maybe an extremely effeminate male.

His nominee will be ultra-liberal & not above a little corruption.

Now, I don’t know of many Liberals out there with these credentials, but then I don’t pay much attention to the inmates at the asylum, either.

So, who fits this mold?

Squeaky voiced little turd. So little, your first thought is whether it’s worth the water to flush him.

I don’t like Patrick.
