Did he fail or did the actual system as constructed in the constitution lead to its implosion as John Adams predicted when he said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” (John Adams, October 11, 1798.) I would have to edit this today to be “a Biblically moral and religious people.”
