During tonight's CBS Republican presidential debate, Donald Trump was the only candidate to address the news that Carrier will be sending hundreds of American jobs to Mexico.

The GOP frontrunner said that under a President Trump, Carrier would stay and "build in the United States because we are killing ourselves with trade pacts that are no good for us and no good for our workers."

Video footage emerged yesterday, which went viral, capturing the anger and heartache of 1,400 Indianapolis workers who were informed that they soon would be out of work, as their company will be sending their jobs to Mexico. The New York Post described the video as "stomach-turning."

The company representative tried to quiet the crowd, as workers of different races and ethnicities cried out in outrage and despair. "Let's quiet down," the company representative said in the video.

Come now. You are asking a TV entertainer to get beyond the sound bites and talk policy. Silly you.

He has been talking about American jobs to Mexico for months. He bas been the only one I have heard. The other candidates take money from the people doing it so they say nothing.

“To try to persuade them to stay is freedom.”

Bingo.

They shouldn’t expect to sell their Mexican made goods in the US tax free.

The only question is, how much more should we pay to the government? In order to ensure our prosperity.

This is one of the many reasons Trump is winning ... Trump is the only one that even cares about the working class

Trump sure didn’t care about the 200+ Polish illegals who did demo work for $5/ hour when they got paid at all, on his Trump Tower in New York. These men had to wait 19 years before they get all their money and benefits.

Are you for open-borders ? Do you like to see good jobs being sent elsewhere ?

Maybe Trump can hire those people and replace the over 2,000 aliens he has brought in to work on his properties.

And that’s where conservatism has sunk. I understand that there are various flavors of it—paleo, neo, social, economic . . . but to take an economic conservative and label him as “open borders?” That’s just retarded.

<<Soon, someone will stop by and explain why 200 million of us have to pay higher taxes to save 1400 jobs.<<

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

No jobs, no manufacturing, no weapons made here eventually = no country.

Of maybe you are faked out by the games that are played where whole assemblies of cars for example are imported for final assembly here.

Or maybe you think the almost $1 trillion annual trade deficit can go on forever . . . just keep running up the credit card.

Or maybe you think the $19T in debt can be paid back without jobs and a ton of growth.

Sheesh! I know it has become an article of faith that tariffs are bad . . . but I respectfully request that people take another look at that position.

BTW, tariffs WERE NOT the cause of the Great Depression, even if Reagan said something to that effect. As I have pointed out here before, he had other things on his mind, like the Evil Empire. Also, trade was not a problem in his day. The endemic trade deficits had just begun, and it may not have been clear back in the 1980s that they would only grow and grow.

Because this is happening over and over and over and over and over and over again to our people. Our industries and our wealth are being sent to other countries; this is happening EVERYWHERE is destroying our economy, no jobs, no money, no commerce, no factories, once thriving little towns scattered throughout this land, rich beautiful little towns, whose economy was centered around a factory or two; those factories dismantled, sent overseas, wealth destroyed, and all the beauty destroyed because there is no money to maintain it. God help us if we should face another world war. We will not have the factories — or the capital to defend ourselves.

what’s trump’s solution...punish the company with more taxes.

Please trump speak more on how you woud lure US companies back to the US with tax increases

Btw, has Trump closed down all his foreign companies? How many Americans work in his non-US companies? Does he put Americans first in practice or just in rhetoric???
