Cruz’s misleading attack that Trump ‘convinced’ the gov to ‘bulldoze’ a widow’s home

"Trump bankrolled politicians to steamroll the little guy, a pattern of sleaze stretching back decades. Worse? Trump still supports eminent domain today."

Who knew such a wonky topic would find its way into political attacks in the Republican presidential race? An ad released this week by Ted Cruz's presidential campaign lodged a renewed attack on Donald Trump's support for eminent domain and alleged use of the government's powers for private gain, to bully an elderly woman out of her home.

There are two problematic aspects of this ad: the misleading headlines that accompany the narration and the cherry-picked footage of Trump's answers that misrepresent the context of his statements. We took a look at these two elements, the context of the ad and the actual sources of the quotes and footage the ad used.

The Facts

The case

In 1994, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, a government agency, attempted to seize an elderly widow's home. The agency tried to invoke "eminent domain," which refers to the government's right to acquire private property for public use.

The house was located near the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. The agency wanted to turn the house and two other properties over to the Trump Organization. Trump had planned to landscape the area and build a new parking lot, with a waiting area for limousines.

The woman, Vera Coking, was in her 70s and had lived in her home for 37 years. She refused to give it up. Then, a four-year court battle ensued.

Some of you Cruz people are illogic idiots.

Just like your idol, you resort to name calling when you've lost the argument.

Last night he jumped on stage at a Christian Rock concert in Greenville, said a few words, and a prayer, then left. His followers then started posting pictures of the 14,000 strong “Ted Cruz Rally.” That reeks of desperation, and is actually rather pathetic.

Cruz's fellow Conservatives attend Christian rock concerts.

The Donald's followers, OTOH...

When an interviewer recently called Lady Gaga the "Billy Graham of pop," she claimed,

"I'm teaching people to worship themselves."

http://www.christianitytoday.com/women/2011/may/lady-gaga-wheres-outrage.html

Rom 1:25-27
25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator — who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
NIV

Believing the same things as conservatives who attend Christian Rock isn't pathetic - it's conservative.

Does The Donald worship himself and believe the same things as his "discovery" - the cult Icon of the homosexual community?

I don’t think you read my comments. I’m fine with Mrs Coking not selling. I’m fine with the judgement in her favor. I’m not fine with painting the town as villains for deciding that they needed to attract tourism to Atlantic City. That’s why courts exist to balance disparate interests.

We as a country have given towns the right to decide on zoning, redistricting, eminent domain and a host of other things. If we want to abridge those rights or parse them differently then we can legally. There is no reason to push the meme of villains here. The legal system exists as a break and functioned that way.

Still not correct. It started when the publisher for Penthouse wanted to build a casino at the site. He offered Coking 1 million for her place. She refused. He built around her place but went bust. Then, Trump got the property, most likely for pennies on the dollar and wanted to build his casino there and offered her about 250 grand for it. She again refused and the city government got involved. They lost and she retained her property. She then moved to San Fransico into a home for the elderly and her close relative took control of the place. He put it up for sale for 1 million, it didnt sell. He then kept dropping the price till it was sold at auction..might have been a tax auction-I dont know, but the place sold for about 400 grand.
One MILLION DOLLARS!!! She got offered ONE MILLION FOR IT and wouldnt take it. BTW, she and her husband paid 20 grand for that place.
Tell you what, that broad had to have been one of the dumbest ever in the history of that area. A 20 grand intial investment and could have turned it into ONE MILLION? Hell, she most likely could have had the place moved in the deal for nothing! What a stupid dolt!

>>As opposed to the quite visible immoral framework now in place,

What's the relationship between the moral framework represented by Trump's "discovery" (the pop icon of the homosexual community) and the systemic amoral corruption of the "free" market that Donaltrons worship?

Atlantic City was one of the defendants in the case.

The value of a home is that which a buyer AND the seller agree to.

Unless the government is involved.

Icahn owner of Vera Coking’s A.C. house

November 20, 2014 | By Amy S. Rosenberg, Inquirer Staff Writer

ATLANTIC CITY - Vera Coking famously refused to sell to Donald Trump. But in the end, she sold to Carl Icahn. Property records in Atlantic County show that Coking’s famous but now-vacant white house, in the shadow of the famous but now-shuttered Trump Plaza, is now owned by IEH Enterprises - Icahn. The house at 127 S. Columbia Place was sold at auction in August for $583,000. At the time, Atlantic City lawyer Pat Agnellini said he was the bidder on site - and on the phone - who walked away with the winning bid. Agnellini declined to say at the time whom he represented other than himself, or what the plans were for the property

OH YES, the house was BULLDOZED BY Donald Trump? Really? Can you people lie any more? And you all claim to be righteous?

That is really like feeling an elephant’s toenail and thinking you can describe the whole elephant. The judgement the town was making was not about making money for Trump. They had big problems with poverty, and crime, and urban blight and they decided that they would be benefiting the town as a whole much more than they would be inconveniencing Mrs Coking. NJ agreed and allowed them to have gambling licenses. The hoopla about Trump is a vast oversimplification of a very serious situation which is being pushed as valid to damage Trump for other candidates benefit.

Why do you have to resort to lies Trump did not fight a 4 year battle. The State of New Jersey did an not at Trumps demand because by tht time he had sold the Trump Casino....Use facts not fiction in your posts...But the full exchange went like this (the section removed is in boldface):
Host Chris Wallace: “Do you support taking private property for private use?”
Trump: “If somebody has a property in the middle of a 7,000 job factory, as an example, that’s going to move into the town — but they need this one corner of this property, and it’s going to provide 7,000 jobs in a community that’s dying, of which we have many in this country, okay? I am for that.”

No need to try and debunk the rant, I doubt in the first place they reaf the article when it began uncovering the four tears of legal harrassment by the billionare to take the 70 year olds home. Cruz is evil for saying anything against the Trump. Cruz is not a billionare so he is just another peon and held to a higher standard.

The fact that he has not misused government power, or used a battery of lawyers to get his way means nothing to the might makes right croud. Cruz is a sleeze for even mentioning it.

They clearly worship Trump.
