With the history of socialism’s success, better stock up on toilet paper.

Excellent column which should be required reading for all millennial sons and daughters — who have no idea where this “cool” brand of populist rhetoric leads. Ideas have consequences, and the candidates’ moral and political philosophies matter.

A “Democratic-Socialist” is what the East-Germans called themselves.

You know that and I know that about the half-frikken (half-marxist, half-mohammedan) POSOTUS, yet he was presented (by propagandists) as a unifying force - a blank slate. Feel the bern doesn’t have that “blank slate” unifying appeal as an old white POS socialist, and Hillaryous Rotten Criminal has a rap sheet as long as __ ____ (fill in blank slate). This makes for a fascinating election year.

Hoooooo... boy.

If this Bernie goes up against Donald Trump, who actually knows something about other world socialisms like this, he would not last half an hour.

Yeah. Feel the Bern. Berning up your wallet for an army of civil servants most of whom are there to soak up some baksheesh.

Now Hillary is hardly going to complain along these lines, because it would bring some of her pet ideas under unwanted scrutiny too.

A lot of conservatives thought that exposing Obama (and now Sanders) as Bolsheviks would hurt them; it is high time we accepted the fact that much of their support is BECAUSE of that ideology. This is no longer a Christian culture, and capitalism has left a mess here due to outsourcing and importing of Third World labor; plenty of voters WANT communism - they simply see no alternative better for them. It probably has to fail (like ObamaCare and Red (capital R) states’ economies) before they see the light.

It’s no wonder the 2nd amendment is so troubling to them.

Wasn’t it they who also bragged that capitalism would sell them the rope with which they would hang it?

As a relative Johnny come lately to the Christian side of the Judeo-Christian party, I can now quite clearly see what has been taken advantage of. People WANT a generous world. They know somehow that this is their nature. But people have walked off from God in their prides (I’ve been no exception), and seek poor substitutes. It is like the way in which the prodigal son in the parable, longed to eat the pods which were the fodder of the swine he hired himself out to keep.

Again I was no exception. I went for Jimmy Carter, twice, whereas the verdict of the nation the second time around was “RONALD REAGAN AND WE’RE NOT KIDDING!” And I still didn’t stop... I went for Dukakis too! But that was before God grabbed me and showed me how much He cared. And I stopped expecting to see generosity initiatives out of politicians. I now knew it had to be private, from the heart.

I’ve been a little hard on Reagan still (actually been hard on regarding him as an idol), but for the most part he left room for the grace of the Lord rather than Carter’s man-centered pessimistic naysaying. I didn’t appreciate this until years and years later, in retrospect.

The problem is that way too many people have been conditioned to feel, not think. And socialist leaders are adept at manipulating emotions. When they tell their subjects that they want nothing but the best for everyone, their subjects believe it. Even when the truth that socialist leaders are all about redistributing the results of their subjects’ hard work to themselves—for instance, Obama’s frequent and lavish vacations—their subjects still support them, still get all warm and fuzzy about how much dear leader “cares.”

Critical thinking is a skill in short supply these days.

They will only say “this time will be different because we know how to do socialism the right way, ie, democratic socialism where we all get to vote on who divides the wealth.”

Somewhere in Hell, Nicky Kruscheve is caressing his shoe and chortling — “See, told you so. Vee bury you!”

>>They know somehow that this is their nature.

Read Animal Farm - Orwell illustrated their nature quite accurately.
