I say the following with absolute respect and affection.
Having been a self conscious conservative starting in my teens during the 60’s, and having seen the slow destruction of this country for all those years, I believed after Reagan that I would never live to have the sort of candidate I could love and support with absolute joy and enthusiasm, the sort of candidate leftists take for granted every election.
Even when I liked Cruz very much last summer, I saw his flaws and limitations, and I resigned myself to supporting a guy I liked but could not love.
At first I despised Trump, for all the same reasons I see on FR daily. But with an open mind I watched him speak and especially watched his amazing interviews, and came to realize this is the candidate I could love and support enthusiastically, a true winner who loved America and Americans, someone who was on my side.
I really, truly, sincerely wish that all conservatives could feel the joy and optimism in my heart and the confidence in my soul. I wish we could share this unique historical moment together.
I realize the bitterness and opposition is too great. I wish it were not. And I hope in the coming months Trump’s candidacy will be a source of common happiness and optimism, so we can all celebrate together.
Go Trump GO! Thanks for the post!
Go Cruz!

“How many will stay home instead?”
Maybe a few from the FR microcosm, but in the grander macrocosm of the real world, probably not that many. Trump’s cross-over from demographic groups that haven’t voted Republican since Reagan will FAR, FAR outweigh a few sore losers.
(Yes, I know. It’s definitely a BAD thing nowadays when we have a GOP candidate who can actually get elected because he draws votes from many different groups that wouldn’t ordinarily vote for a Republican. But hey, I guess most people can get use to almost anything if they have to, including winning.)
“A Trump Administration will be virtually indistinguishable from a Sanders Administration.”
Uh, yeah. Sure.
the media is a powerful weapon.
Donald Trump is the last hope for our country. I agree with you 100%.
“he will likely be the nominee. then where will be no more reason to fight!!! :)”
I suspect at that point, the FR mods will be WAY less tolerant of any sustained, unwarranted assaults on the GOP nominee.
are you kidding? Jim’s a saint. He’s really let the people go at it.
There’s no reason to be on the board if you dont support the nominee in June.
I know I will if it’s Ted or Donald. After that, it gets tough
Yes the sooner we all coalesce around Trump the better.
“I know I will if itâs Ted or Donald. After that, it gets tough”
Ditto. I’m for Trump, but will gladly vote for Cruz in the unlikely event he’s the GOP nominee.
What is a conservative? If you use Sen.Cruz as an example, I will shoot holes in you argument.
Who will stay home? About 20%. Those will be the single issue voters, whose Socon issues can only be solved by the states.
"Trump won't be able to trump Cruz on conservatism. So now he's making clear that he isn't running a conservative campaign - he's running a nationalist and populist campaign. His enemies include both Republicans and conservatives"

Populism-Duck
Seriously can you really imagine a joker and petty little boy like Trump in the White House? We are not going to do this again are we? Nominate another moderate squish?
So sad if we end up with Trump. Hilary will cream him. There is even a chance that Bernie could beat him.
GO TRUMP!!
He is purely an attention whore he cannot deal with criticism. His hatred of Forbes goes way back because they differed on how much he was worth. A petulant little baby who is awesome at losing other peoples’ money.
Well this kind of viewpoint comes from having a hero who tries to rise above God.
Call Trump a cad, call him a pig, call him coarse, but... don’t call him a liar. Because he almost never is.
For Hillary to meet him would be like the Wicked Witch of the West meeting the water that Dorothy spilled. And Bernie (unlikely candidate) would be Trump’s floor mop.
