I have sold a dozen items through Craig’s List. Including my $5500 price used Van. Just yesterday, a buyer picked up an inversion machine from me.
My tips for safety:
(1) Never agree to meet in the street. Place to exchange must be at a bank or a large restaurant.
(2) Never publish your phone number in the Craiglist Ad.
Ask the prospective buyers to email you their PHONE NUMBER and name. Then you call them back to arrange meeting place and price. Police can trace phone numbers.
(3) Never accept any type of check. Cash only! Even my van buyer and I met in his bank, he cashed out $5500 and I deposited the money in the same bank.
