Bernie Sanders promises to free half a million prisoners in first term

Sen. Bernie Sanders vowed during the latest Democratic debate to dramatically reduce America’s prison population in his first four years in office.

“Here’s my promise: At the end of my first term as president we will not have more people in jail than any other country,” Sanders said. “We will invest in education, and jobs for our kids, not incarceration and more jails.”

The U.S. imprisons about 2.2 million people, making the country the world’s biggest jailer by far. China, which comes in second, jails 1.7 million people.

It’s unclear how Sanders plans to empty American prisons by half a million people, since the president and federal government preside over only a fraction of the total prison population. Fewer than 200,000 of the nation’s prisoners are in the federal system; the vast majority live in state and local jails.

Nothing is clear with these two. This was right after Sanders said that unemployment was 10% and true unemployment from underemployment was greater than that! Before I could swallow I was screaming at the TV - then where is this great recovery the BLS and Obama said we have? What happened to the unemployment under 5%?

Then the beast wants to have free college! Yes, free college for everyone. Why not?? It's great. And she'll pay for it by "closing loopholes" and taxing the rich. Right....

Then she said she wanted to increase current government spending by $1 Billion annually and that's "all paid for".

I think these people are stoned. I really do. Either that or 95% of American voters are too stupid to realize these people are lying.

But there shortest answer of the night came when they were asked "What would you do to reduce the size of the government?"

They said they would.............wait for it.........................................................................................................................................................................

Cut red tape and duplicative services. Yay!!! Give them a medal. What an idea!!

So he’s already promising to pardon Bill, Hillary, and Obama?

The Bern wants to put criminals back out on the streets.

Yeah, that will make our communities feel safer and reduce crime.

His proposals would actually hurt Black America.

But if racial pandering gets you votes, who cares whom it hurts?

We could compromise and send 250,000 people to China for incarceration (outsourcing) and then China and the US would be in a tie.

Will the bern use similar methods to what China uses to keep the inside-prison population artificially low by what they do to the outside-prison population?

Maybe he plans to kill, rather than release, that many.

Socialists see things that way.

Getting tough on crime is like so 1990s.

The Democratic Party is going so far Left its brains are falling out.

And the Bern and the Hildabeast are falling all over themselves to see who can be dumber and dumberer.

Not much different from Obama’s message:

“Turn in your guns and trust the Muslims”

Excellent point. The crime rate and prison population was low under Vlad the Impaler as well.

On the other hand, China reportedly executes 10,000 people a year, whereas the U.S. has only executed 1,427 since 1976.

To the liberal mind, it’s the sheer number in prison, not the nature of the offenses. ‘Cause if they’re in prison, it can’t be their fault, right?

I’ll take China’s execution rate over ours.

Oddly, liberals don’t seem too upset about it.
