Canadian Ted Cruz: Does He Have Documents To Prove He's A US Citizen And Eligible To Be Pres?

According to the Obama administration, because Obama's mother was U.S. citizen and because he was reportedly born in Hawaii, he has the necessary qualifications to be President. But many, dubbed "birthers" by Obama supporters, still believe he was born in Kenya. If true, the argument goes, he would not be qualified to hold the Executive office because regardless of his mother's citizenship, he was not born on U.S. soil. The latter is a legitimate argument and one that appears to be supported by the Constitution, though no court has ever clearly defined the meaning of a "natural born citizen."

Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz has a similar problem as he was born in Canada. Unlike Senator John McCain, who was born on a U.S. military base in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936, Cruz was born in Canadian and on Canadian land.

Cruz argues that because his mother is a U.S. citizen, and because he had dual nationality and renounced his Canadian citizenship after he turned 18, qualifies as a natural born citizen.

But according to a report from Karl Denninger at The Market Ticker, Canadian law in 1970 when Cruz was born makes it clear that no such dual nationality existed at the time, making it impossible for Cruz to have been a Canadian citizen AND a U.S. citizen at the same time:

There's a clean question on the table regarding dual citizenship for persons born in Canada prior to 1977 (when they changed their law to officially recognize dual nationality.)

Prior to that date, with few exceptions, you could not hold dual nationality with Canada. In other words the very act of "renouncing" Canadian Citizenship means that Cruz never held US citizenship at birth because his parents had to declare his nationality at the time he was born.

“Is all about casting doubt in SC Republican’s minds BEFORE the primary,”

Of course it is. Which is why I keep saying what I said. Either take him to court and prove it, or STFU.

Rafael Cruz, another politician that refuses to show documentation proving he's eligible to be president in the senate.

It doesn’t matter where Cruz was born. The man is an unstable religious nutter and shouldn’t be anywhere near a position of power in our government. He’s not qualified to be president.

Cruz has a very serious problem - he was born in Canada.

Democrats are already salivating over the potential for lawsuits challenging Cruz*s eligibility.

Secretaries of State in Democrat-leaning states, such as Pennsylvania can simply refuse to put Cruz*s name on the ballot, citing the Constitution.

Cruz will have to sue each such state.

Our courts are loaded with Democrat-appointed judges and justices. Such suits have little chance of quickly succeeding in Cruz*s favor.

Hell, we can*t even trust the Supreme Court to rule in our favor, especially on such an important issue.

I say *Don't take the chance.* Don*t nominate Cruz.

Besides, Ted Cruz is better suited as a Supreme Court Justice. He would return us to a Constitution-based government again.

I say to Ted Cruz - Do the Right Thing - Drop out - support Trump (even if it*s hard to swallow).

It*s best for the country.

-- Because this is NOT about court. --

It shouldn't be, that's for sure. This issue has been resolved in litigation, at least for a person situated as Cruz is (not so for Rubio).

But Cruz and many others are not being forthright on this point, so the issue persists.

Ted’s claim that he is “natural born” is based on the fact that although he was born in Canada to a Cuban father, his mother was born in America. If Ted is natural born, then the same holds true for the children of King Hussein of Jordan and his American-born wife (Lisa Halaby/Queen Noor). Impossible to believe (for obvious reasons) that the Founders’ conception of “natural born” would encompass the offspring of middle eastern potentates. Yet Ted, widely purported to be a stalwart defender of the Constitution, is attempting to impose this dangerous (and prima facie ridiculous) precedent.

One state, IL, ruled on the merits. Its ruling, however, never address the arguments advanced by the objector, and summarily adopts the arguments put forth by Cruz.

NH has, and NY either will or has, say it is not competent to decide the question, so anybody can file for a place on the ballot, and the NBC inquiry is not part of the evaluation.

But he’s hidden his CRBA or he does not have one!

Citizen at birth is not synonymous with natural born citizen. Congress could pass a law tomorrow conferring citizenship on everyone born in the Congo REGARDLESS OF THEIR PARENTS CITIZENSHIP if they wanted to. This IN NO WAY MAKES THOSE PEOPLE ELIGIBLE TO BE PRESIDENT.

From what I can tell .. you are the only one who keeps going down this road.

I guess you believe that if you sow enough doubt, you will be able to convince people not to vote for Cruz.

Of course, you never discuss what the laws are; what the law says, or whether anything you say is factual.

Don’t bother replying to me .. I just wanted to let you know that I noticed it’s always the same people who bring up this subject; and it never contains facts.

No that is NOT why. Obama's mother lacked the required residency. She was not psychically present in the United States long enough to pass on citizenship to Barack.

Why does Ted Cruz need documents showing whether he’s qualified to be President. The last person who occupied that office didn’t show a damned thing so that subject is moot.

I bet Cruz has more documentation than the other guy had from his entire history.

It wouldn’t matter. Nothing he could produce would convince a birther loon.”

I guess a birther loon, is another name for a Constitution loon, who believes the President should be a natural born citizen.

He has produced no documentation whatsoever proving he’s eligible to even be in the country, much less a US citizen What is he hiding? If he has anything where’s it at? The man who did the research is republican, member of the Tea party.

He should be able to clear this up in 5 mins? Why does he refuse to explain how he is a NBC? Why is he not being transparent?

Concur..I’ve asked the same question numerous times. Where are Raphael’s US birth documents? Some say he doesn’t need them as a NBC. Others agree with us..mom never applied for one.

Having a CRBA does not make him NBC, but not having one makes him a man without a country.

Actually it does not, children born to diplomats in the US are excluded by law from receiving US citizenship.

Carson or Christy won’t say a word. They’re banking on a job if Cruz wins.

Personally I don’t know if he’s eligible or not. But I do know that there are a lot of people who say Obama isn’t eligible but Cruz is. That doesn’t seem right to me.
