Cruz (says he) is opposed to eminent domain. In January, Cruz attacked Trump on eminent domain. I suppose this has already been posted, from “Brietbart”:

“And Ted also supports eminent domain for the Keystone Pipeline that a private company is building. Oil is subsidized and has been for years. Cruz has at least $365,000 in oil/gas company investments and at least $50,000 of that is in Plains GP Holdings, a company that transports oil and gas liquids.

So Ted Cruz stands to make money on the Keystone Pipeline. In addition, Cruz has gotten $25 million in oil super pac money and over $952,000 in oil campaign contributions.

Cruz SCREAMS against Crony Capitalism publicly all the while taking the cronies money and buying into the cronies deals.”

And this from the “Texas Tribune”:

“To Julia Trigg Crawford, the attack sounded odd coming from Cruz, who didn’t speak out when TransCanada, a Canadian pipeline company, invoked eminent domain to build part of the Keystone XL pipeline through her 600-acre farm on the Texas side of the Red River. Instead, Cruz supported the company’s effort.

‘It certainly seems incongruous to me, the northeast Texan said. ‘He is allowing a FOREIGN corporation for a FOR-PROFIT pipeline to take land from more American citizens
against their will.’” (emphasis mine)

I think this was to transport tar sands oil to be refined at two Texas refineries and sold overseas to increase THEIR profits. It wouldn’t lower any Texan’s gasoline bill or provide any long-term jobs for Texans. But he didn’t stand up for the interests of Texas landowners.

This is not the company that wants to build Keystone - so how does Cruz stand to benefit from supporting Keystone? You are grasping at straws.

Cruz supports the pipeline - but where is the evidence that Cruz supported using ED for the easement on this woman's land? Is she making an assumption that Cruz even KNEW about it? Pretty weak sauce. But as has been discussed before, there can be an argument made that infrastructure projects like pipelines, power transmission lines and railroads, though technically private, are in the nation's security interest and may be a constitutional use of ED.

Are you opposed to the Keystone XL pipeline project? I think most America-loving conservatives are for it.

And what, SPECIFICALLY, did Cruz *say* about eminent domain vis a vis this pipeline? I see allegations and insinuations, but no actual quotes from Cruz.
