Donald Trump has over double the voter support of any Republican White House hopeful nationwide, according to a new poll.

Over 4 in 10 Americans are backing Trump's campaign after his victory in New Hampshire's GOP primary last Tuesday, according to a Morning Consult survey released Friday.

...

Trump is also viewed favorably by over 6 in 10 of his party's voters, pollsters found. He has a 67 percent favorability rating, while Rubio takes 62 percent and Cruz 61 percent.

Wait until the media pounces on Trump, sometime after the nomination. Looks like another 4 years of democratic socialism for us.

Not if the rebellion is real. If the rebellion is real, then let's hope the media pounces on Trump. That is part of the strategy!

Yup, Trump attacked Reagan in the 80s

Liar.

Trump's support comes disproportionally from independent voters (47 percent), those who characterize themselves as something other than conservative (47 percent) and those without a college education (49 percent).

Donald Trump...still the choice of the low-info liberal Republican.

I haven’t attacked Trump supporters, but the tactics being used by some Trump supporters, attacking Cruz and his supporters for their Christian values, is very off putting. I actually considered Trump for awhile, and then I came to the conclusion that he cannot be trusted and that Ted Cruz is a much better candidate for the general (and I my conclusion had nothing to do with Ted’s Christianity either). At this point, many Trump supporters here on FR and other sites have me so turned off to his candidacy that I may not even vote for Trump in the general now against Hillary. The way they attack conservatism, just like a progressive, is very off putting to me. With Trump as the candidate, the real problem is being ignored—large, far-reaching all powerful, centralized government DOES NOT WORK, and is unAmerican! It is smothering what made American great in the first place. How can Trump make America great again when he hasn’t even identified the problem?

No, no one ever said that. His unfavorables are disastrous with Democrats and far worse with independents too than all the other candidates. This poll only looks at Republicans, where he has improved somewhat recently. We have yet to see if he's improved with the "crossover" voters he keeps claiming he'll get.

“Why is it that Cruzers always have to lie?”

Because they’re following their fearless leader. You know - the one who pictures Trump knocking down poor widows houses, and allows his minions to equate Trump to Hitler and claim he’s going to put his (78 year old!) sister on the Supreme Court. Not to mention deceptive mails and outright cheating in Iowa.

But if I guess if Jesus loves you, everything goes, huh?

Cruz isn’t more of the same at all. He’s a Tea Party conservative who the D.C. establishment hates because he’s exposed their cronyism and corruption. Trump has participated in that corruption by his own admission.

Trump dominated independents and moderates in New Hampshire, while Cruz... not so much.

Possible unfavorables of 60% is sooth saying. 40% favorable this early in primary season has to be good compared to other leading republican nominees in past primaries.

He won’t win New York. Did Romney win Massachusetts? The mythical “crossover” Democrats will not materialize. As even Trumpocrats have been saying, the country is not the same as it was in the ‘80s. Those Reagan Democrats have long since changed parties to Republican and the remaining Democrats are radical leftists or extreme party loyalists.

Does not surprise me because Trump is a populist, not a conservative. And after 25 years of outrageous crony nonsense, most people out there have lost faith in the free market.

Once again a Trumpocrat confirms he agrees with Bernie Sanders on economics more than he does with Ted Cruz.

1...1...1 is getting a reputation here for lying, he doesn’t seem to care.

Then why didn’t McCain and Romney win? Moderate Republicans always lose. If you don’t run a staunch conservative you will lose. Starting off your campaign by agreeing with Bernie Sanders means you will lose. Voters don’t vote for Socialist-lite when they can get the real thing. Unless you explain why Bernie Sanders is dead wrong on everything, you will lose.

...I’d hate to see the anti-government libertarianism streak of the Republican party be swallowed up by a more populist movement.

What anti-government libertarianism streak? It was swallowed up by the McCains and Romneys and McConnells long before Trump ever appeared on the scene.

I have done none of those. My opposition to Cruz is his votes and backers. Cruz has a right to his religious beliefs as does Trump. I would prefer if Cruz touts his religion he would to live up to his standards better but that doesn’t make them less than. No one’ s Christian religion is a joke—no one including Trump.

There is also the fact that neocons have successfully stolen the definition of conservative.

Nobody has stolen any definition. The party has always had Rockefeller and Goldwater Republicans. No one is confused about the split in the party between liberals and conservatives. Trump is a Rockefeller Republican through and through, a match to Mitt Romney on almost every issue and characteristic.

Who will actually get the most people off the couch and out to the polls? I think we know the answer already.

Then why didn't he do it Iowa? In how many other states will his enthusiasm fail to measure up to the hype?

How many of thesen”Cruz supporters” are really members of this forum and how many are trolls from the outside.

I would hope that all members of this forum stop the bomb-throwing and isolate the trolls.

Everyone....GET OVER IT! IT IS RUNWAY BEHIND US...TOTALLY WORTHLESS!

Over 4 in 10 Americans are backing Trump’s campaign

Absolutely wrong. Read the article. Those are REPUBLICANS, not Americans.

Trump...attracts 44 percent of the vote among self-identified Republicans and Republican-leaning independents,
