A Queens man was busted with a stockpile of guns, ammunition and bullet proof vests inside his one-bedroom apartment, authorities said Wednesday.

Guo Shou, 33, of Rego Park, had 225 pounds of gunpowder, tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition, bullet-making equipment, assault rifles and several bullet proof vests, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

The arsenal was discovered when officers conducted an administrative pistol licensee review at Shou's home Monday. The officers spotted the gunpowder and some of the ammunition lying in plain sight.]

I have a friend who has “several”, and it drives his wife crazy when he buys another one.

Q: Don’t you have enough already?

A: Well, it’s a good start but there are a some more that I really should have.

fat fingers while typing from my thoughts.

Yes, I meant “financial” but, my fingers typed something different.

Cut me some slack because it was “close”...like grenades.

...My question is this: Is a home-grown bullet-making operation illegal? That’s what it sounds like he had to me.

I sounds like he was reloading cartridges, not "making bullets". This is a common activity in most of the country.

Possibly he was casting lead bullets, which can be used in lighter loads for pistols and revolvers.

225 lbs of powder is a lot more than is usually found in a home, and it might be a fire code violation. Other than that nothing is out of the ordinary.

I bet that what they actually found was a combination of new powder containers and a lot of used containers which when they were full held 225 lbs. A 5 lb. container might have 8 ounces left in it and the cops would say it was 5 lbs.

I’m guessing he ran afoul of some law on the proper storage of the powder, since they said some of it was out in plain sight.

“What use is a gun unless it’s loaded?

As someone said, a gun with a loaded mag in the mag well, but no round chambered, is simply and ammo storage device!

His bullet making operation, given the ignorance of most reporters, might have been anything from reloading to actually casting lead bullets, neither of which is illegal in most places.

Let me tell you the story of my day at the barber shop.

I came from a well off background, but for a lot of different reasons I have hung out in the most wealthy of areas and people to the most dangerous streets, and not just the most dangerous streets in America but in the world as I have been all over the world. I am very street wise. Friends have ranged from saints to biker gang types, you name it.

The barber I go to in the San Francisco Bay Area is in a bad area. But I like the haircuts I get there.
The barber is a Vietnamese lady, I don’t know her age, she is older and probably came in just after the fall of Saigon. Her daughter, who is not young and probably in her late thirties, not sure, sometimes sits there in the barber shop on a chair next to one of those hair drier thingy chairs.

So the Viet lady barber is wonderful, but even though she is older, I would not suggest anyone mess with her. I sort of know, she may have even killed someone with the same hands she does the clip, clip, clip thing with my hair and scissors, and she has a loaded gun locked in one of those drawers for combs or something next to the second barber chair at the back, I know this circumstantially.

She speaks a sort of English where entire verbs are left out, verbs and words such as running, words like with as in with a gun, and things like that, but I understand her because it is actually not bad English but the Viet Bay Area form of English.

So when it is my turn to get on the chair, the first thing she says is how she is happy that Trump won New Hampshire. I have never told her I am a Trump supporter, I do not discuss politics in the barber shop ever, but Viets always talk politics and especially the barbers.

So I look at the other two guys sitting and waiting for their haircut, both are Mexicans. I am not sure if they are illegal, but probably are illegal aliens. They are looking at me to see my reaction. As for the Viet barber, she does not give a rat what anyone thinks, she says whatever she wants. The customers even if they are illegals do not care what she says, either, but they are now looking at me to see what I say.

I change the subject to what a nice day it is. I mean, I want to get my haircut and back on the road as I have to pick up something from Home Depot and look at the illegal aliens hanging out in front, as well as the now Middle Eastern types, refugees or something, where the ME guy stands there and then has his wife or some female come up to me asking for money while the guy is in the background and sort of nods at me. The gal has her muslim garb on. This is happening all over the place now, they send their women to do the begging or scam job whatever, actually this is more a scam job than begging and it is part of the culture they came from, and the men just stand in the background and sort of nod if eye contact is made. Baby die, give money?

So the Viet barber lady starts to tell about what happened. What happened? Black guy gun, shot when trying to car jack van. Mexican guy arrested for shooting black guy. I am confused. She is pointing out the window, right over there. The van was full of his tools, old Mexican guy, black guy forces his way into van while Mexican guy is sitting in van parked, black guy known in the neighborhood as trouble. Holding a gun to the face of the guy owning the van, then when the car jacker tries to drive away in the van the old Mexican guy standing there pulls out a gun and shoots the young carjacker dead as he tries to drive away. People in the neighborhood come out, mostly other Hispanics, they know the black guy who is bad, very bad. My barber also joined the people who gathered as the police came. She says the carjacker was high on medical marijuana. I have no idea how she knows this or where that came from, but the other two Mexicans in the barber shop confirm, yes medical marijuana, the black guy is a blank.

She says, obviously not happy about it, the police arrested the old Mexican guy for shooting the gun when the van tried to drive away, the Mexican is somehow the criminal. Something about, he cannot shoot the bad guy when he tried to drive away so the police arrest the Mexican. Other Mexicans who were there are outraged. They are for the fourth amendment, even though it is the second amendment.

Sometimes we hear about the wild west, how if you steal a horse you get shot while trying to ride away. But today, they say it is worse than wild west in the neighborhood and you are not allowed to shoot the guy who steals your horse while he tries to ride away.

I suppose the old Mexican guy who had the van, with all his tools in it, that is his source of income for his old wife and maybe kids, that van and tools. He is arrested. The carjacker is dead.

I don’t think the old Mexican guy would have missed his shot. Or hit someone else. Got the guy right through the driver side window. Dead shot.

I feel bad for the Mexican guy, not the carjacker. He should get a medal, says one of the other Mexicans in the barber shop.

None of this was ever reported in the news, says the Viet barber lady. She is worried, if she shoots someone, will she be arrested for doing a good dead?

All told, cops seized: 14 licensed handguns, which were not properly secured in a safe; two loaded licensed shotguns; one licensed rifle; approximately 45,000 rounds of ammunition for multiple weapons; two Kevlar body armor vests; and six Kevlar armor plates.

...then the Daily Pravda photo with the story is of a pile of rimfire ammo, which is usually sold in "bricks" of 1,000 rounds.

With those numbers he barely qualifies as an enthusiast. As I read it, he could have been cleaning a pistol, and been caught with his safe door open.

This man had more of a modest armory than an actual arsenal in his home, based on their description.

Any sane person should be disturbed that police can make random inspections of law-abiding people...and conduct a "fishing expedition" search...so an arrest can be made.
If a police officer tailgated any of us for a 100-mile journey, I am sure any of us would similarly do *something* for which we could be stopped.

Always remember that Big GovernmentTM does not visit to "help" you for anything. Nothing was mentioned about the man having ANY kind of criminal record. Congratulations. They have likely caused this guy to lose his job and goodness knows what it will cost to defend himself to keep out of prison.

17 long guns?

That’s it?

Every purpose requires a different tool.
