Elite Don't Get Trump's Appeal
http://www.newsmax.com ^ | February 10, 2016 | Bill Donohue

In 1972, Pauline Kael, film critic for the New Yorker, famously said after the presidential election, "I can't believe Nixon won. I don't know anyone who voted for him." Following the New Hampshire primary, former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu said, "By name, I know only five people supporting Donald Trump. So I can say I cannot understand this electorate."

The difference between Sununu and most conservative pundits is that he is honest about his cluelessness. For several months, night after night, conservative talking heads have been bashing Trump, dismissing him as if he were a carnival freak. Oh, yes, they readily concede, he may be able to whip up the masses, but he cannot engage them for the long fight. That they look increasingly silly cannot be denied.

The fundamental problem with conservative critics of Trump is their class bias. They don't understand the working class. Sheltered in prep schools and Ivy League institutions, their world is one where ideas count, and not much else. They don't understand the visceral appeal of someone like Trump.

What is Trump's appeal? Candidness and an intolerance for business as usual (Bernie Sanders employs these qualities as well). The working class has long believed that most politicians -- it matters not a whit whether they are Republicans or Democrats -- neither speak to them or for them. They speak above them, or past them, but never to them.

How is it possible for a billionaire to connect to blue-collar workers but polished politicians cannot? Because Trump speaks their language: He is bold and decisive, and he is not owned by the political class.

This is a good article that pretty much sums up why Trump is doing so good.

Elite Don't Get Trump's Appeal

The so-called elite are used to extreme deference and getting their way by waving their money, but they have no sway over The Donald.

I must be part of the elite. I must admit though, I did watch the first couple of campaign speeches. Couldn’t do any more though. Waste of time. Headlines usually contain any new material.

A revolution is too barbaric for elites.

I came across some video of a lecture given by a Marxist professor who had gone to Yale. He was describing his Freshman orientation.

“We were told to take a look at the person sitting to the left of you. Then take a look at the person to the right of you. One of them is going to be a US Senator, and the other is going to be a leading captain of industry. You are here to learn HOW TO RUN THE WORLD.”

Yep. That’s the attitude.

I’d be surprised if elitists like Sununu know the names of 5 people who make less than $100,000 a year

The most fervent supporters of diversity are always those that live the furthest from it.

The biggest mistake that Republicans can make, many are already talking about it is to try to unseat Trump at the convention. That would ignite a backlash the likes of which the elites have never seen.

The author's got that right.

Trump is exposing the cabal and all the Media/fox included is slowing coming to the realization that many of us want to hear him and not them.

Other things now coming to light. The Dems votes don’t matter delegate process.

Bernie & Hilly come out tied in NH even though she lost handily in the popular vote and there is no proportional allocation between 1 and 2

Bernie should adopt the slogan “ Votes Matter” as a spin off of Black Lives matter and if he is a true reformer point out the rigged nature of his own partys method

Are people finally starting to understand our founding fathers did not intend for there to be "polished politicians".

Nah, they're just mad.

Politicians were only supposed to go up there to represent their people and then go home and back to their businesses. It wasn't supposed to be a lifetime career.

Elites judge candidates (left and right) on how well they ‘talk’ and if they have the ‘right tone’... because when they need a politician to DO something they bribe them (buy 20,000 of their ‘books’ - make a contribution - give them a stock tip).

Everyday people can't afford to bribe their congressmen so we judge people by different standards than the elites....

The last time ‘elites’ were this disconnected from the common man their heads got disconnected from their well perfumed bodies.

Seems like Hollywood Elite, And the like, only accept Socialists, Scientologists, Atheists, Gays, and The Muslim Horde.

The Wall Street Elite prefer Hillary because they can do business as usual manipulating Markets illegally and getting away with it, as long as they donate to the Left wing cause and Hillary’s bank account.

So why would any of them like a guy who no one controls.
TRUMP 2016!!!!

We are tired of the lawyers turned politician, who talk endlessly about what they will do, but never seem to get around to actually doing anything positive at all.

We are tired of politicians who have to go on bended knee to the huge donors and lobbyists and beg and grovel for their money.

We are tired of politicians who weigh each and every utterance in front of a focus group so as not to “offend” all the easily offended dainty souls out there.

We are tired of the tyranny of Political Correctness.

We are tired of seeing our country being invaded by the Third World hoards who come with one hand out, and the other clinched into a fist, and screaming “racist” at us.

We are tired of a media who encourages the invasion and endlessly lectures us on how we are bad people for not wanting to be turned into a subservient minority.

Its odd that the elite class is just now calling us dumb. Because we have realized that they feel their job is that of a border collie. And they have long thought we are nothing but cows.

Its like they don’t think we can hear our politicians pandering to the groups they speak to, often contradicting themselves as they move from group to group. And they don’t believe we are smart enough to know when the talking heads overlay their understanding of conservatism with the desires of deep pocketed lobbyists.

Its possible that we have acted stupidly for too long. Or possibly the elites had a monopoly or oligopoly on the message vehicles like network news and thirty second TV ads. And now there is a hole in the fence and a few steers have separated from the herd.

The talking heads are acting like dogs, biting our heels with rhetoric such as, the Trump people are stupid. Or, Cruz voters are crazys. But we are not cows. We just have access to more information. And we have unfettered access to candidates like Cruz and Trump.

Its very reasonable for voters to want to hear other candidates. And its even reasonable to consider Cruz or Trump simply on the fact that corrupt news rooms and corrupt talking heads so violently deride them.

There is still a herd. They can be seen sitting around quoting the large newspapers instead of thinking for themselves. And if you are in the middle of the herd, its hard to see that the herd is now smaller. So, you say stupid things like. “Nobody I know likes Trump.”
