The only reason any pollster is even asking this question is because Donald Trump proposed it. As those numbers suggest, any of Trump's rivals could have helped themselves by "stealing his issue". And yet no other candidate has gone anywhere near it - or anything like it. Perhaps one reason why American elections have the lowest voter participation rate of almost any developed nation is because the political class mostly seems to be talking about its own peculiar preoccupations. Consider this astute observation by Steve Sailer:
American citizens have turned in large numbers to old-white-guy candidates like Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders. For all their differences, both give the impression that they are running for president of the United States, not president of Davos.

Voting record on these issues? You can’t be serious. He is the ONLY candidate who put these ISSUES ABOUT OUR SOVEREIGNTY on the table for Americans to see. No other candidate had the nerve to show the real problems America is facing. We need our manufacturing base back in America and we will not have it until we break up the politicians who are all for the so-called FreeTrade and Cheap Labor Express because those things line their own pockets.
Why can’t we build a tank or an airplane without CHINESE PARTS?Why are so many of our F35 planes grounded? Why can’t we put our own satellites in orbit when we were the first to put a man on the moon? Why can’t we buy almost anything that doesn’t say MADE IN CHINA anymore?

I’ll tell you what his “Voting” record is. He has built an immense empire the old American way, by hard work and smart thinking. He believes Americans should be able to make good like in the old days instead of by being lifelong politicians or part of the BIG BUSINESS CHEAP LABOR EXPRESS. YOU obviously, don’t believe middle class Americans should be relieved of the ax burdens and regulations that are choking them to death. SMALL BUSINESS has always been the backbone of America. That is what Trump is talking about. Bringing America back to its greatness, making America strong again.
