As written, the First Amendment only restricts actions by Congress
. It places absolutely no limits on the actions of private parties, including Churches, at all. People mess this up all the time, but a private person cannot violate you Constitutional rights because those rights are defined only in terms of protection g you from the government.
America no longer cares about this.
How what is 'written' is INTERPRETED is all that matters now...
Many things get 'written'; without ever checking to see if they contradict something else...

People mess this up all the time because they don't understand that the Constitution was designed to protect private citizens from the government - not private citizens from each other.
