BYU students ‘bubbling’ over Sodalicous and Ted Cruz

Some BYU students are defying national odds by showing their support over Ted Cruz and they’re encouraging others to do the same.

The Ted Cruz College Republicans coordinated an ‘bubbly’ event to spark conversation for the upcoming election and show support for Cruz on Saturday, Feb. 6.

The event was held at Sodalicious at the Village at South Campus in Provo. Many students gathered together to watch the Republican Debate and enjoy refreshments. Fliers and posters were hung up to show support, and many attendees wore stickers with Ted Cruz’s name on them.

According to Pew Research the rate of voter turn out for those 30 years old or younger has been falling steadily since 2008. In 2008 the voter turn out percentage was 52 percent and by 2012 had dropped to 45 percent.

Jake Lee, Utah College Director for the Ted Cruz Campaign, organized the event and gave an introductory speech on why he supports Ted Cruz. - See more at: http://universe.byu.edu/2016/02/10/byu-students-bubbling-over-sodalicous-and-ted-cruz-defying-national-statistics/#sthash.chRA7LJf.dpuf

I am not a Mormon, and I disagree with your theology, that said I absolutely believe that evangelical Christians and Mormons should be natural allies politically!

College would have been so much different if did not frequent the bars so much and instead spent my time and money at “Sodalicious”

Cultists stick together. And they are sad Romney isn’t running.

Why should they? Unless Evangelicals put politics before Christ.

I personally think there should be more respect all around. All I am saying is that we have theological differences, but that shouldn’t stop us from becoming friends, and allies against the Marxists who want to destroy this nation, and our 1st Amendment freedoms!

You are so right with respect to others’ religions unless they advocate murder.

I’m pretty sure Mormons don’t want to murder non-believers.

Dare you invoke the name of Reagan who would never be so nasty.

Respect? They don’t respect Evangelicals, they see us as targets and apostates. They USE us to get votes. They hate us. The theological differences are on key issues. I will not ‘respect’ someone who insults my Lord by claiming he is the brother of Satan and just another spirit child of God like us (ontologically the same) who had to earn his salvation and godhood just like us. Don’t forget the Mormons wanted to destroy and take over this country (that is also part of their theology) and it is still part of their theology (I can document all of this) that they will control the US government as a church. Also the first amendment doesn’t apply to the Mormon church - they shun and kick out those who disagree (see Kate Kelly, John Dehlin, Alan Rock Waterman, and now Jeremy Runnells all of whom are friends of mine.

I don’t sing kumbayah

Like Reagan I speak the truth, without worrying about offense.

I’ll take that bet. Want quotes from their prophets?

Are you saying that a Church shunning someone and/or kicking them out violates the First Amendment?

Any Church can shun and kick out whomever they want.

We only win people to Christ through friendship, not hatred.

Look I vehemently disagree with LDS doctrine, but I do respect people, and will ally with them in political battles.

BYU? Cruz probably secretly calls them a cult.

I am saying they dont’ believe in freedom of speech or belief. You don’t toe the line you are out. Sure they can do it, but the point remains they don’t believe in it and that goes for non LDS as well. They can say whatever they want about exmormons, or gentiles (all non mormons even Jews), but freak out if you even ask them hard questions about their history or doctrine - calling you ‘anti-mormon’ etc.

The people I listed were all excommunicated for questioning the Mormon church. No freedom of speech there.

It isn’t hatred, and ‘friendship’ gets you nowhere with cults. They see you as a target, and weak in your faith (been there done that when I was LDS). What got through to me and to every other exmormon I know (thousands) was being hit hard with the truth - no ‘can’t we all just get along’. A Christian bookstore owner berated me until I get fed up enough to try to prove him wrong and found out he was right.

And cannot respect anyone who insults my Lord and I will not put political gain over the salvation of souls.
