For the first time since combat operations were declared over at the end of 2014, a battalion of 500 U.S. Army infantrymen is being sent to southern Afghanistan's volatile Helmand Province where the Taliban have made a comeback, Fox News has learned.
The decision, confirmed by defense officials, is a sign of military escalation in the country even as the Obama administration tries to draw down.
The battalion is meant to relieve a company of 150 soldiers, giving the U.S. Army nearly 350 more soldiers to prevent the Taliban from taking over volatile Helmand province. The Army's 2-87 infantry battalion, part of the 10th Mountain Division based at Ft. Drum, N.Y., was scheduled to deploy to Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan this winter -- but instead will be sent to Helmand, according to defense officials familiar with the order.

My understanding is “no fire unless FIRED upon”
And so, incredibly:
If through binoculars you directly see men planting an IED, you cannot fire on them, as you are not under fire from them.
Also, armed men know they can simply through down there weapons as a defense, as they cannot be fired upon if unarmed.
Also if they prefer to remain armed but unmolested they know to immediately enter any structure, as they then cannot be fired upon, “no firing into structures”.
Basically this is the ‘stan version of Obama’s air-war on ISIS:

What does 500 troops mean? Just like you and me, troops have to eat, sleep and have a little downtime. 500 really means about 100 at any given time since some of the 500 are clerks and military guys work shifts like your father may have done. 100 troops simply means Obama should have included a lot of body bags on the same planes.
500 troops? Are these the ones who spoke out against 0dunga in their personal emails or are they just the super-patriotic ones 0dunga wants dead before he leaves office?
Does somebody have an incoherent foreign policy? I wonder who?
