Cruz to GOP: It’s either me or Trump
Hot Air ^ | 2/10/2016 | ED MORRISSEY

Premature or prophetic? While analysts tried to figure out who had a "ticket" coming out of New Hampshire, Ted Cruz told Salem's Mike Gallagher that only two tickets exist -- at least in first class. With a win in Iowa and a surprising third-place finish last night, Cruz warned the Republican Party that he's the only one in the field who can dethrone Trump:

"South Carolina historically has played a critical role picking presidents. And I think Iowa and New Hampshire perform an incredibly important function in narrowing the field and in many ways this field is becoming a two-person race between me and Donald Trump," the Texas senator said on the Mike Gallagher Show Wednesday. "What Iowa and New Hampshire demonstrate is that the only person in this field who can beat Donald Trump is me. The other candidates are not able to beat Donald Trump."

Regardless, the WKA decision. in particular the text around the part that you cite, puts Cruz in the "natrualized" bucket.

Maybe I am missing your argument, are you saying WKA is not a good cite? If it is not a good cite, then why do you refer to it?

Hey, don’t you think that this was a “media question” and should not even have ever been brought up? This is what the media does (for some reason for only conservatives opponents) ..just ignore it and get along with your lives.

You’re again trying to turn a small northeastern blue state into some sort of bastion of conservative voters while further trying mislead by acting as if it is representative of South Carolina or other Super Tuesday primaries. Furthermore, you’re bizarre allegations about the complexities of Iowa that you never identify that are not present in NH (nor explained) can be easily explained by the above. Closed republican primaries in red states are far different. As for Cruz tactics, its called a ground game, voter connection, and good ole fashioned campaign stops as opposed to the media circus falling over themselves to catch the next Trump controversy. We’ll have our vote hand excuse me if I turn down the coronation process.

Among those running, I support Cruz but like most politicians, he continually modifies his beliefs to fit the situation and that is a problem.

Modifies his beliefs, or focuses on the issues most important to the people he is speaking to?? For example, in Iowa he focused on social conservative issues because the key constituency was evangelicals. We know from Ted's personal history that he believes what he said, he lives those values in his own life. Then in NH, he focused on liberty issues - eminent domain, NSA spying, etc., because of the large libertarian voting block. He did not stress the social issues as much because those were not the issue important to the voters in NH, but he never walked away from them either.

A part of being a politician is being able to address the issues that the voters care about, not just the issues you care about. As long as the candidate is not changing his position on the issues, the fact that he focuses more on some issues than on others with different groups is just part of the process.

How can Cruz supporters be members of a cult of personality? You guys say Cruz has no personality. Ha!

Did you hear the LIE?.... I heard Cruz myself in a debate when the moderate ask him about his eligibility problem LIE and claim that Trump's mother could cause Trump eligibility questions... So lying does not seem to be a problem with Cruz.

By the way Cruz deviously and deliberately did not answer how he can claim to be a natural born US citizen.... given his claim to fame is following the ‘original intent’ of the Constitution. But there was no doubt he knew the answer because he did say that Rubio, Jindal and Santorum all had eligibility problems.

Check your dates on that Texas case.... He ignored it...

Oh and how rich is it that McConnell's lawyer is running a super-pac for none other than Cruz.... The games lawyers play in the name of Jesus.

Teaming up with lord McCain to handcuff our military over ‘waterboarding’, was a sure sign of leadership... Especially when our military are dealing with uncivilized barbarians.

Just saw Cruz’ ad against Trump. Kind of hypocritical to use kids saying things they can’t understand (couldn’t even pronounce Pelosi) after he didn’t like his own kids being part of someone else’s ads. Ad really stank as it didn’t clarify anything with kids acting out politics they couldn’t understand. Wasn’t cute...though it did appear to have the required ethnic mix. How culturally sensitive of him!

Can I at least give my reply to the question you asked about a proven conservative before I address Obama’s phony academic achievements?

that was beautiful but the fact remains that there is no statistical difference between Ted and Donald, except in unfavorability, in which trump leads by 14, 60 to 46.

Okay. I understand your support. I just don’t believe that Ted is always consistent, that is okay.

Hope he wins though...

You may answer all you wish. But NOTE in all of what I responded with, did I ever promote Trump... All things considered. My opinion of Cruz has nothing to do with Trump. I am still trying to figure out how to wrap a ‘conservative’ blanket over Cruz. Like I said, why do I owe my vote to a Hispanic, Cuban, natural born Canadian? Claiming he is conservative just won’t fly.

Reminded me of the CReepy anchor baby/cussing, antiTrump commercial that used kids :(

Why go there, with KIDS???? Especially when you’ve had your own kids mocked? Just keep kids out of political hit pieces.

So lying does not seem to be a problem with Cruz.

A TRUMP supporter accusing another candidate of lying??

Check your dates on that Texas case.... He ignored it...

I did check the dates. The case was argued in March of 2003 - Cruz was appointed one month before that, and his boss had specifically refused to have the case argued by the state. So your argument that he "ignored" the case is as ignorant of how those cases are handled as the rest of your understanding of the judicial system, apparently.

By the way Cruz deviously and deliberately did not answer how he can claim to be a natural born US citizen....

You really need to do more research. Cruz has answered this question directly on numerous occasions. He is a natural born citizen because he was born to a US citizen. You may not agree with that argument, but to say that he has never directly addressed it is a lie.

No I'm not, I'm trying to point out the demographics of New Hampshire's Republican primary that included "very conservative" voters that Trump won by a large degree.

Closed republican primaries in red states are far different.

Even if we remove all independents and Democrats out of the voter pool in New Hampshire, Trump still wins because he dominated every demographic. Male, female, college educated, no college education, very conservative, moderate, liberal, etc.

As for Cruz tactics, its called a ground game

Or sleaze, or greasy tactics of an immoral huckster.

“Cruz warned the Republican Party that he’s the only one in the field who can dethrone Trump”

So, in other words, Cruz seems to be pandering to the GOPe to support him because Cruz is the lesser of two evils to the GOPe compared to Trump.

Lovely.

Every day I see more and more reasons that reinforce my choice of Trump over Cruz.

"Very conservative" republicans in NH are closer to conservative Democrats in Texas.

That must be why they were Ted Cruz's ONLY strong group! But Trump still dominated with them too.

No more DEALS, we are better off with no deals than those deals.

Then what is the point in electing Teddy as president? Nothing will ever pass. Which means all Obummer's bills stay as they are, including Obamacare, because it is a passed and signed law, and Ryan and company will not do anything to please president Teddy.

Ted Cruz has adamantly opposed abortion (unlike Donald Trump who told NBC he is “very pro-choice” citing his New York upbringing but in 2015 he tells the same network he’s “pro-life citing absolutely nothing beyond the obvious and cynical ploy of flip-flopping for the republican nomination), supports completely defunding Planned Parenthood, supports capital punishment, has been a strong proponent of school choice and is the only candidate to propose abolishing the Department of Education, supports the Second Amendment and was one of a handful of Republicans that blocked any attempt to sneak gun control amendments into legislation (Trump supported the unconstitutional federal Assault Weapon Ban), supports the full repeal of Obamacare (Trump bankrolled the Democrats during their Congressional takeover and after they rammed Obamacare through), Cruz delievered the fourth longest speech in Congressional history in his bid to get Obamacare defunded, supports requiring all businesses to use E-Verify (Trump violates US law admitting to employing cheap illegal alien labor), opposed comprehensive immigration reform i.e. Amnesty in the Senate, supports the construction of a complete wall on the southern border, opposed Obama’s DACA program that would shield illegal aliens from deportation, he has opposed homosexual marriage and criticized the Mayor of Dallas for participating in a “gay pride” parade (Trump supported it before he came out against it), has fought against Obama’s EPA regulatory power grabs consistently in the Senate, opposes George Soros’ Agenda 21, has proposed abolishing the IRS, among many other examples.
