Cruz to GOP: It’s either me or Trump
Hot Air ^ | 2/10/2016 | ED MORRISSEY

Premature or prophetic? While analysts tried to figure out who had a "ticket" coming out of New Hampshire, Ted Cruz told Salem's Mike Gallagher that only two tickets exist -- at least in first class. With a win in Iowa and a surprising third-place finish last night, Cruz warned the Republican Party that he's the only one in the field who can dethrone Trump:

"South Carolina historically has played a critical role picking presidents. And I think Iowa and New Hampshire perform an incredibly important function in narrowing the field and in many ways this field is becoming a two-person race between me and Donald Trump," the Texas senator said on the Mike Gallagher Show Wednesday. "What Iowa and New Hampshire demonstrate is that the only person in this field who can beat Donald Trump is me. The other candidates are not able to beat Donald Trump."

So how is Cruz going to get anything done while in office? I guess we should just EO everything just like Zero. Cause we can’t make deals. We have to play partisan politics and hope that the Republicans are all conservatives and not RINOs and have super majorities in the House and Senate.

No earlier than January. Most recent February.

No subject change. Find me a poll that shows Trump beating Hillary substantially, which he would be if he had the dem vote.

Geez, i know you cant because it doesn’t exist but at least say something like “it’s too early for generals polls”

dont lie and obfuscate. It’s embarrassing.

No, I’m not hoping he loses to whoever the Democrat is. I’ll still take my chances with Trump.

Democrats are already talking about filing a law suit if Cruz is nominated, disputing Cruz’s eligibility to run for POTUS. It will be too late to anoint a new candidate and the decision by courts could take months..

The publicity will be devastating to the Cruz/whoever ticket.

is he THAT unpopular with republicans?

Would you like to fill me in with factual information about exactly how many republican sponsored bills from the senate got to Obama’s desk? How many were started and never made it to his desk in the last 7 years?

We have had a good ole boys club long enough and we true conservatives don’t want anymore. When Eliot Ness went to Chicago to clean out the slime balls he did not have many friends. Once again, we have had too many DEALS.

Great positioning. Like Assad. Kill off all the other possibles, and leave the world with a choice of assad or isis.

IIn this case, make the bad guys (gope) pick among the two remaining good guys. Tough choice, eh Gigot?

Cruz has never lead any South Carolina poll. Trump however has led in 17 out of 18, and the last 9 SC polls since he announced his run. The one poll that Trump wasn’t ahead (Carson) led by 1% essentially tied. Teddy is way behind the eight ball in SC.

Ok...FL, NC, IA, WI, NM, PA, CO, NV, VA, and maybe NH. There are no polls in these places because unless they have primaries coming up soon, nobody wants to spend money on polling them so early. Go to 270 to win and create you own winning scenario.

Someone who actually supports and passes conservative legislation. Humm, that seems impossible doesn’t it?

Well, it is! Today’s Congress would never do such a thing as they are up for election every two years and have to appease the public - again (ie. give away lots of money to specail groups). Just what do you expect with the process that happens every two years?

Really, to believe otherwise is to say that you are a dreamer and really, get a life!

Why didn’t that solicitor general appeal the gay decision in Texas?

At least you did not claim that solicitor general follows the ‘original intent’ of the Constitution... When that solicitor demands himself be exempted under the ‘original intent’ of the Constitution. I am really trying to convince myself that I owe a Hispanic, Cuban, natural born Canadian a vote...

Now you did claim something about being a conservative, but darn if I can find it!

i got 50 nonsensical answers

“look at the crowds!!” i remember all the talk about obama’s small crowds

“he has crossover!!! Blah blah said so!!!!” not translating into helping him against hillary at all. Nor in his favorability ratings. Cruz is doing much better in that category AND head to head with hillary.

“teamsters!” not even sure what that means.

the plain fact is if trump had crossover he wouldn’t be at 60 percent disapproval and he would be beating hillary and sanders TODAY by 10.

trump is a known entity. how does he go UP from 60 unfavorable?

what is new to learn about him?

When 100,000 or more show up to protest our so called Democracy then I will begin to have faith in our Democracy again. Until then, you and all others here are wallowing in your own self authorized political world...geez!

you are using the argument we hated only last year.

“we have to pick someone who can win!!””

we HATED that line. because it referred to rubio/McCain/romney bush etc.

Cruz does better against hillary than Trump. Quite better.

Polls seemed to matter last week when they showed Trump leading NH, but now they dont when Trump is not fairing as well as Ted against the dems.

I will get looped arguments but no numbers, not ONE that shows Trump has any strength besides his 35 or 40 percent among repubs.

WEAK among independents and the rest of the GOP field.

it is what it is

Trump spent several millions in Iowa, in case you had forgotten, in addition to the free publicity the media gives him, only to lose a state that led in the polls and was predicted to win. It isn’t whining to point out that New Hampshire is a blue state carried by Obama with an open primary. Your candidate even promised the Corn Lobby of Iowa more of our tax dollars to prop up ethanol but you accuse Cruz of being the sell out?!? I see desperation on your side and several people from Trump’s campaign expressed worry about South Carolina with one admitting Cruz is running a bleep* prefect campaign in the southern primaries. You want to act like New Hampshire voted for South Carolina and all the other Super Tuesday states! Can we at least see how the voters decide? Can I votebin the NC primary before you claim New Hampshire picked my candidate too?

Why would I do that leg work for you? Please do the search yourself.

My main point is that, so far Senator Rafael Edward (Ted) Cruz has big fat ZERO bills to his name which passed the congress. I will overlook Obummer's veto's because that is automatic.

An effective LEADER has the ability to make deals with congress critters, and there is always give and take.

For example Reagan gave up increases in federal spending to Tip O'Neill, the democrat speaker, and got his tax cuts through congress.
