Cruz to GOP: It’s either me or Trump
Hot Air ^ | 2/10/2016 | ED MORRISSEY

Premature or prophetic? While analysts tried to figure out who had a "ticket" coming out of New Hampshire, Ted Cruz told Salem's Mike Gallagher that only two tickets exist -- at least in first class. With a win in Iowa and a surprising third-place finish last night, Cruz warned the Republican Party that he's the only one in the field who can dethrone Trump:

"South Carolina historically has played a critical role picking presidents. And I think Iowa and New Hampshire perform an incredibly important function in narrowing the field and in many ways this field is becoming a two-person race between me and Donald Trump," the Texas senator said on the Mike Gallagher Show Wednesday. "What Iowa and New Hampshire demonstrate is that the only person in this field who can beat Donald Trump is me. The other candidates are not able to beat Donald Trump."

LOL...looks like it. Good catch.

I see he/she/it (?) has come with plenty of pre-prepared, ready to roll-out set of ‘facts’...lol.

I can support Ted Cruz and unlike 2008 or 2012, I can do so enthusiastically without holding my nose. Trump wanted to increased ethanol subsidies for goodness sake but he’s the anti-establishment candidate for Trumpeteers!

Rafael was born on foreign soil from parents who were permanent residents of Canada.

You are wrong on both accounts. He has not compromised, unlike Trump who brags about cutting deals with the GOPe. And he has a better chance of winning than Trump. They will eat Trump alive!

Nope, reaching across the aisle is for people like Boehner, Mac, Ryan, McCain and all the others. We have made enough DEALS with those kinds. His use of his businesses as excuses doesn’t cut butter either.

He has a long history of being more for Democrats than conservatives.

P.S. - His definition of conservatism is about 4th grade level too. Fits right in there though with putting cash in the communion tray.

Uh Oh, so Newt won SC, and so does it mean Cruz wins SC, and eventually loses nomination to Bush?

If Newt is so popular and electable , why didn’t he win in 2012 ? You are trolling ...

What we know is that the opposition does not want or is afraid of a Trump Newt team.

Very interesting. And thank you for going full court press against a Trump Newt team this early on as it provides good intel.

So what is a president to do when they don’t control the house or senate to push policy. I guess he should just sit on his hands and do nothing, because we aren’t smart enough to work together to accomplish a task.

Yes, I noticed that too. WAY too many esoteric “facts” for the average Cruz-Troll here. It looked like Cruz staffer-prepared material to me.

Yes, you know he is my first choice also but I understand that he is a politician and will never get done anything that he says he will - it is just the way it is..

That said, and because I know politics is so corrupt, he would only last a year or less before he begins the slide to the left, so it just does not matter.

Good luck though and still hope he wins. Might just change things for a year or so before the slip begins to be reality.

He’s almost 60% unfavorable now

Two reasons he’ll tank even further:

He’ll flop in two person debates.

He’s going to be attacked by the MSM like no other nominee in the history of the country has ever been attacked. They’ll dredge every piece of slime imaginable up to take him down and they will be relentless.

Cruz can win better than Trump can. Cruz is a true conservative and Trump is a generalizing with superlatives flip-flopper.

Careful. Cruz has some flips & flops on his resume as well.

I figured you were sending out feelers ... I will present a very strong and accurate case against Newt ..he’s brilliant indeed , but he’s a globalist sellout and his views are totally contrary to Trump’s ... he needs to endorse Jebbie

WOW...Marco is accusing Rafael of being a crooked politician!

I thought all career politicians by definition are expected to be crooks! So why pick on poor Teddy like that? Marco is also a career politician, so this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black! This might hurt Teddy’s inner feelings?

Disagree completely.

Newt was favored in the last election, until RNC ensured Romney was the nominee because they always give the nominee who was shafted the previous election the support in order to make good on how badly they supposedly treated them.

McCain was supposedly shafted during the Bush election period. The RNC felt bad and ensured McCain was the nominee in the next cycle, 2008.

Then Romney was supposedly shafted in 2008 and was promised the top spot in the next cycle which is why they did not get behind Newt Gingrich.

However, the RNC has no love for Newt Gingrich but hopefully Trump will choose him as a running mate if Trump wins the nomination.

Cruz reminds Chris Mathews of senator McCarthy. Chris has no more tingles up his leg.
