The oil producing states ought to shut down every pipeline out of their states. They are going broke since that creep supports Iran’s oil industry over our own, so they should not be the only ones suffering.

Baraq and company screwed this one up bigtime.

If they proposed this as a $25/bbl tax, congress would have passed $10/bbl and everyone would breath a sigh of relief.

You can tell Axlegrease is no longer around.

I would counter-propose a $5/barrel tariff on all imported oil.

We need a special surtax of 45% on all political pensions until the budget is balanced.

Even if Mexico doesn’t pay for it, contrast that $8billion against the cost of government benefits for illegals. Just today, we read the story about $750 million paid in illegal Obamacare benefits to illegals. Add food, education, medical, Obamaphones, subsidized housing, incarceration, etc.

A bargain! $8 billion is an absolute bargain!

Such a tax would be passed on to heating oil as well.
I would not put it past Republicans to get right on board at the end of the day.

Building roads a bridges and infrastructure projects should be much cheaper right now with the decrease in the cost of oil.
When you increase the price of oil through this tax then all these other things become more expensive again. Even food increases in price. What you end up with is a giant circle Jerk with Uncle Sam Stealing there cut directly from the American consumer. And the consumer getting nothing but poorer.

Don't we already have a gas tax for roads and bridges?

Or is it like SS already been stolen by Congress

There was a tax to pay for the Spanish American War that still on the books surly we paid for it by now

That tax collected has gone the way of the Social Security lockbox.

The movie ‘Mars Attacks’ showed a fitting treatment of our pitiful Congress.

The proposed tax is on crude. Heating oil comes from crude, so the tax will be factored into the price. It will be added in to all products that come from a barrel of crude oil. Propane, Gasoline, Jet fuel and heating oil.
It is just another tax on our economy.
