Michael Bloomberg says he is actively considering running for president as an independent

Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire former mayor of New York City, confirmed on Monday that he is actively considering running for president as an independent.

In a dramatic interview, the 73-year-old said he was 'looking at all the options' and expressed disgust at the current state of the White House race.

Bloomberg would be the richest candidate in American political history with a fortune of $36 billion, dwarfing the resources of Republican Donald Trump and enabling him to self-fund a campaign many times over.

“Considering the billion (or more) dollars that a campaign will require, he will probably delay making a decision until the last possible minute.”

Good. Let him waste his money on this.

Bloomberg only has two issues:

1. taxpayer funded abortion.
2. Confiscation of guns from American citizens.

He also wants to ban sodas and lemonade but we can let that pass.

Bloomberg has an extremely obnoxious personality, almost unbearable. His only support is in the NYC, NJ and Connecticut area.

Bloomberg spends enormous amounts of money bankrolling candidates who are for gun control. I think all of them have lost.

NOBODY would want this megalomaniac for a president. It would be like having a combination of Ivan the Terrible and Pol Pot, with a smattering of Mussolini thrown in (I’m sure the trains under Bloombutt would run on time). No one would have a voice but him. His cabinet would be a matched set of rubber stamps. I can’t even begin to tell you how many lives this filthy runt has ruined in NYC.

If Cruz gets nominated over Trump, things can get real interesting. You know Trump would probably run 3rd party as well. So with a 4 way Cruz, Trump, Bloomberg and Hillary race, we could actually end up with a President with less than 35% of the vote.

.... He is coming to the rescue of his hero’s Bernie and Hillary. Him running would more than likely split the Republican vote in the General Election. However ... this could also backfire by siphoning off Democrat votes from Democrats who don’t like the current field of choices. After all .... Bloomie more closely resembles a Marxist than anything else.

It still befuddles me that an idiot like Bloomberg could become so successful. I must be doing something wrong.

No, Bloomberg isn’t much like Trump at all and actually has governmental experience. Except for his nanny-state obsession (which led to his constant anti-tobacco, anti-sugar, anti-whatever campaigns) he wasn’t bad and New York was about as well run as you could hope for, considering there was a radical leftist city council that regarded him as the capitalist pig enemy.

Don’t rule him out! This is such a weird race.

the 73-year-old

Why are all the oldde pharttes suddenly deciding that they and they alone are necessary to turn America around? I will be 73 in 11+ years, and I don't mind handing it over to the next generations (especially if it's Cruz, but that's an issue for another thread).

It's about time we started calling it the Grand Young Party; it's the other side that's stuffed with the Marxist post-elderly.

“Him running would more than likely split the Republican vote in the General Election”

Bloomberg’s only issues are gun confiscation, taxpayer funding for abortion and outlawing soda and lemonade.

The only area where he has any support is NYC and nearby.

Bloomberg would only get Democrat votes. No Republican would vote for him.

Bloomberg’s GUN GRABBING history means that virtually all of the votes he gets are from people that would have voted Democrat.

Where it gets interesting is that the race could devolve into a Trump/Bloomberg race, with the spoiler being Bernie, who gets the Democrat nod, but then is abandoned by the Dems for Bloomberg, who is clearly much more electable.

...and don’t laugh, it has happened before. In Florida, in the 2010 Senate race. Back then, Rubio defeated Crist for the Republican nomination - then Crist ran as an ‘independent’, but got all of the Dem support. The actual Dem, Kendrick Meek, came in a distant third.
