Who are *we* to tell someone else how and when *they* give money?

When you get right down to it, it isn't Trump's money. He solicited donations and funneled the proceeds through his 'charitable' organization. So why should he use the money other people donated for vets as a crass political stunt to benefit his campaign?

Call the director and educate him. I’m sure he’d prefer to uproot his warriors to carney on with the Cult’s Circus and Freak Show.

I'm with you. I don't know you personally, but it's something special that Trump made both of us part of something special. $6 million to vets instead of more ad revenue for Fox.

Why can't people just take things for what they are, instead of trying to get political gain from things that should be appreciated as they are?

Really?

I thought it was because you were still so unhinged about Walker dropping out, and you blame Trump rather than realizing Walker was not a good candidate this time around.

I'd venture to guess that 99% of FR sees what I just said as being a true statement.

"Public" also means "transparent". Many non-profits don't want public scrutiny of monies collected, or how that money is spent.

Shame on them.

Howard, a 57-year-old Army vet, objected to the use of veterans for political purposes. He doesn't believe that his charity - which clothes the homeless, feeds the needy, and provides housing to 10 formerly homeless vets - should be presented with money by a political candidate at a political rally.

The man has already helped several veterans. More than probably those who are trashing him on this thread. The man has nothing to prove. He doesn't deserve to be condemned for refusing a particular donation. He doesn't need to dress up as a french poodle and jump through hoops at a circus. The man has already helped folks and doesn't deserve the trashing he is getting.

The man has already helped at least 10 families. He has nothing to prove to you. Go out and help 10 families yourself and leave him alone.

Correcting the record. CW let her anti-Trump mania get ahead of the actual story. You can’t tell a story from the headline! ;-) Liberty House will get the money. Trump will have a campaign event. This is The Art of the Deal.

- - - - - - -

Trump supporter and New Hampshire State Rep. Al Baldasaro called Howard, telling him the mogul would present the check to Baldasaro, himself a vet. The state representative would then deliver the check to Liberty House after the primary in a more subdued way.

“Liberty House was told by an attorney they could lose their nonprofit status it they are on the stage with Trump... I disagree but respect Keith’s wishes. The check will be presented to me on Monday at the event and I will set up a time to come to Liberty House or do it at the Hall of Flags on behalf of the Trump Foundation,” Baldasaro told The Daily Beast.

“Liberty House got the mountain to move to us, instead of us going to the mountain of cash,” Howard told The Daily Beast. “I can take pride that we maintained our position. I am glad that the Trump campaign has found a way to follow through on what it promised to do.”

I repeat:

The man has already helped at least 10 families. He has nothing to prove to you. Go out and help 10 families yourself and leave him alone.

No, he doesn’t need to “put money in the till.” He already has!

Keith Howard has already helped 10 families. He doesn’t have to prove $hit to you (to use your word).

Do not like being treated like snotty little brats? Try spending your time making the case FOR you candidates instead of posting shameless smear attacks at the other candidates.

I don’t get all gaga-eyed about my candidate like some here, so I would disapprove of my candidate doing something like this. No candidate is perfectly good or completely evil. Trump is okay with me but he’s the wrong one on this matter. The charity was already doing good work and doesn’t deserve to be trashed for turning down a particular donation that had a dog-and-pony show attached to it.
