How rich is Bernie Sanders?
American Thinker ^ | 02/09/2016 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 02/08/2016 7:50:16 AM PST by SeekAndFind

There is a short answer to the question: a lot richer than he admits. And the longer answer is even more interesting.  Writing at Doug Ross’s Director Blue, Cliff Kincaid explains:

[former publisher of Campaigns & Elections Magazine James] O’Brien has analyzed the financial status of Sanders and his wife, including their financial disclosure report, and has concluded they have a net worth in the range of $1.2 to $1.5 million, not the $700,000 or less that is usually reported by the media. (snip)

…his wife, Jane O’Meara Sanders, left her position as president of Burlington College under controversial circumstances and is now being accused of federal bank fraud. She left her position at the college and was given a severance package known as a “golden parachute” that also benefited Senator Sanders’ personal wealth.

Hmmm: The old cut-the-wife-big checks-from-nonprofits gambit has a long history among Democrats. But Jane Sanders really should have asked Michelle Obama for advice, because her $200k is chump change compared to the yearly payout Shelly got from the University of Chicago Hospital for keeping a lid on protests when it dumped nonpaying patients on other health care facilities. Of course, there are far more opportunities for this sort of enrichment in Chicago than in Burlington. And, face it, Burlington College was in tough financial shape at the time, with nothing like the resources of the U of C.

How rich is Bernie Sanders?

And how much is due to kickbacks, bribes and other graft?

A one-percenter who is a diehard Communist?!?!

I wonder if he's in the same club as Michael Moore?

Why hasn't he given all his money to the global warming scam or his friends the occutards?

He's trying to be as big a hypocrite as Man-bear-pig.

C’mon. If Sanders wealth is just over $1 million at his age and with his years of public service, what does that tell me? That especially for a politician he’s unbelievably honest.

Why Jewish Socialism Is So Damned Hot

By Susan L.M. Goldberg February 7, 2016

I have a particular fondness for Bernie Sanders. He reminds me of someone I know. A few people, actually. Okay, pretty much one half of my entire set of in-laws. Like Bernie they are Ashkenormative down to their Lower East Side-by-way-of-Russia roots. Although they prefer the term Labor Zionist, the meaning is still the same. And what, exactly, does that mean? It means their Passover seders, Bar Mitzvah speeches and general conversations are schmeared with social justice. It means they have devoted their lives to community organizing, non-profit management, and political action committee work. Most of all, it means that they have taken tikkun olam out of the synagogue and onto the streets. The Jewish democratic socialists pure faith in a community ability to unite and repair the world is what makes politicians like Bernie Sanders so damned appealing.

It is just a shame that this misplaced faith renders all his good wishes totally fruitless. But, hey, you cannot have it all.

Well you might want to rethink that since the guy never held a steady job until he was 40 and began sucking on the test of the state.

Well I’m sure Bernie would happily give up 99% of his wealth. Well maybe not happily. And maybe...9.9%? Or what the heck, just send him a bill for 0.99% and he’ll probably be happy to sacrifice for the good of mankind...

You'll might catch some flak for that, but I think you're more right than wrong. His wife had a good job, and Sanders himself has been in Congress for 25+ years, making well over $100,000 for each of those years. So, yeah, he could reach $1 million over that time.

Sanders is probably more honest than 90% of those in Congress. As I noted in another post, Sanders would make a good trustee of a bank or a credit union. But if he were the president of the bank, he'd run it into the ground in about a week.

MICHAEL SAVAGE NEWSLETTER: ‘Doctor Zhivago’ shows what’s at stake in this election

Welcome to “The Michael Savage Newsletter,” your daily report on all things “Savage.”

In todays issue: The classic novel and epic film “Doctor Zhivago” offers a lesson to the nation, showing what is at stake in this crucial election year, Michael Savage told his listeners.

“All of you Russian speakers who have fled the Soviet Union and have made new lives for yourself in America, what I’m about to say is very familiar to you,” Savage said. “But for the average American dunce, they don’t know what I’m talking about.”

What is at stake in this election is nothing less and nothing more than what happens on one level or another in the novel “Doctor Zhivago,” written by Boris Pasternak.

It was first published in 1957 in Italy. The film came out many years later, in 1965, and it was the most popular film of it’s time. You couldn’t go anywhere without hearing the theme from “Doctor Zhivago.”

Why is it of any importance to you?

Because it was a time when the Communist Bloc was behind the Iron Curtain. It was a very powerful bloc. People were living in slavery. And this book tells the story of one doctor through many phases of Russian history that begins in imperial Russia in 1903.

And it leads you through what happens to this single man, and a love affair, with Lara, played by Julie Christie, during the Bolshevik, or communist, revolution.

And what you see after the October Revolution and the Russian civil war, what the communists do to middle class families is almost exactly what Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Bernie Sanders have done, would do or will do if they’re allowed to get away with it.

And that is take away the property of the middle class.

And there’s nothing more telling in that movie than when I first saw it, was the beautiful estate in which they live in is occupied after the Russian revolution by a group of rabble.

They take the owners of the estate and put them in the basement of their own estate house, and they put rabble from the gutters into their estate, who now live in the bedrooms, etc.

This is very much what Obama’s dream is. The mad, mad dream of Barack Obama, that the middle class should be broken and brought down.

I don’t mean this literally, but I mean that in a certain way, that’s exactly what he’s been doing.

Bernie grew up in a middle class working area where most parents were employed in the garment industry. Their children became lawyers, doctors, judges, politicians, teachers, etc. many today are financially better off than Bernie. What is a mere 1M today? Its only enough to buy you a nice home on the water. Seeing that most politicians never leave office with less than they had when they went in, Bernie seems to be a minor player. Look at the guy who plays him on SNL, he’s worth over 10 times as much as Bernie. I don’t see Bernie as a greedy egotistical politician like his opponent, America’s Evita. If you are using 1M as a measurement, think about what 1M was in the 50’s compared to today. An inflation Million may buy you what 100K bought you in 1955. I think we have an honest politician in Bernie who believes he’s doing the right thing, even though its a system that most would fear due to it’s past history. Bernie is the product of his early neighborhood, where daddy rode the BMT and read the Daily Worker on the way home. He actually wants to do the right thing for the working class, I’m sure even more than Evita Clinton. If I was a democrat, I’d chose Bernie. Then again who wouldn’t, except maybe those bra burners. Its not as difficult today to become a millionaire, so don’t hold that against him. I don’t see him worshiping the Congressional golden goose.

My take too... If Sanders gave 6 Hillary type 'speeches' (a little more than 5 hours work) he would more than double his lifetime net worth.

Sanders is NOT on the take. "Honest" might be an understatement.
