Former Mexican President: We're Not Paying for 'Stupid' Wall
NBC News ^ | 8 Feb 2016 | by Brian Latimer

A former Mexican president had some tough words when asked about GOP candidate Donald Trump's much-touted plan to build a border wall that he says will be paid for by Mexico.

"We are not going to pay any single cent for such a stupid wall! And it's going to be completely useless," said former Mexican president Felipe Calderón when asked about this at the AmCham Egypt for Business Conference on Sunday.

Calderón told CNBC's Hadley Gamble his country will not be funding the construction of the wall, also adding that while Trump blames Mexican migration for the majority of illegal immigration into the U.S., the net migration between the countries has flipped. According to a Pew Research report in November, more Mexicans were emigrating from the U.S. than entering.

Felipe Calderon’s going to be finded any extra $100,000 for his bad attitude. Now it’s THE WALL plus $100,000...

Quit while you’re ahead Felipe or reform your country so your poor stop trying to escape.

In 2015, Mexico received 1 billion dollars from the United States in aid. In 2016, this number will probably grow. In 2017, Mexico will build us a wall to our specifications and with our engineers and contractors doing the work. The amount of aid they receive in 2017 and the few years that follow, will be in accordance with the budget of the wall. Why is this so hard for everyone to understand?

That is not fair using real math along with a no bs negotiation re the wall, we will build and paid for by Mexico.

Mexico does not want Trump elected and will do everything in their power to support the Dim/GOPee/Open borders candidates.

Yeb or Hillary were to be the selected heirs. Trump has completely upset that plan.

CRuz is supported by PACs whose biggest donors are YUGE amnesty supporters.....Mercer, Club for Mexicos Growth and others.

The latest antiTrump/proCRuz PAC is headed up by a former Chamber of Commerce/Cheap Lanor Express attorney, Eric Lycam.

What does that tell you?

“JOBS now are in Mexico”

Eight years of Hillary and I’d be scaling ‘that wall’

Tariffs, tariffs, or AVT? They’ll pay for the wall one way or the other. The prices for products will be so high we won’t buy anything from there, thus telling them, you want to make money, its going to cost you. Then they’ll send a couple of million workers to build it cheaply, compared to what the Unions here will want to build it. It might be worth it, and benefit both sides?

Oh, they’ll pay it, alright. Trump’ll slap a tax on remittances to Mexico, reduce their foreign aid and apply it to the wall; he’s good at thinking outside the box.

Direct aid is just a drop in the bucket
It might be a drop in the bucket, but it's the easiest block of money to make the Mexican government regret losing. If they have to watch Trump build a wall with their money for a few years, they might be easier to work with in the future, or at least more respectful.

Agreed. We should hit them from every angle, just like they are hitting us -- through government aid, wages and salaries, taxes and refunds (crazy money), welfare costs, health care costs, education costs, all the costs of criminal activity by aliens, and remittances to foreign family members.

US citizens are being bled to death from a thousand cuts.

Not if we put the Mexican PEMEX petrolium production and refining facilities on this side of it, and use the funds derived to pay for the cost of hosting 1/20th or more of Mexico's population. To include, of course, the cost of building, maintaining and staffing the wall.

I’d rather we built it and lived with it before we blindly believe people that it would be useless....

Great movie and great scene.

They don’t understand. Read this:

“They don’t want to go, they can work for a motor company (that’s) not in Detroit, I am sorry to say. They are working for a motor company in Hermosillo and Toluca, so Mazda is coming to Mexico, Honda is coming to Mexico. Those kids have jobs in that industry in Mexico.”

**

Trump will keep the jobs and plants HERE. The wall is more than a physical wall. Ford and the other companies won’t be able to make there cars anywhere but the U.S. and jobs will come back here.
