Pentagon orders commanders to prioritize climate change in all military actions
Washington Times ^ | February 7, 2016 | Rowan Scarborough

The Pentagon is ordering the top brass to incorporate climate change into virtually everything they do, from testing weapons to training troops to war planning to joint exercises with allies. A new directive's theme: The U.S. Armed Forces must show "resilience" and beat back the threat based on "actionable science." It says the military will not be able to maintain effectiveness unless the directive is followed. It orders the establishment of a new layer of bureaucracy -- a wide array of "climate change boards, councils and working groups" to infuse climate change into "programs, plans and policies." The Pentagon defines resilience to climate change as: "Ability to anticipate, prepare for, and adapt to changing conditions and withstand, respond to, and recover rapidly from disruptions." To four-star generals and admirals, among them the regional combatant commanders who plan and fight the nation's wars, the directive tells them: "Incorporate climate change impacts into plans and operations and integrate DoD guidance and analysis in Combatant Command planning to address climate change-related risks and opportunities across the full range of military operations, including steady-state campaign planning and operations and contingency planning." The directive, "Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience," is in line with President Obama's view that global warming is the country's foremost national security threat, or close to it. Mr. Obama says there is no debate on the existence of man-made global warming and its ensuing climate change. Supporters of this viewpoint label as "deniers" any scientists who disagree. But there are stubborn doubters.

@1: "January 2017 can't come fast enough."

And in January 2017, sweeping replacements need to be made for these testicularly-challenged Pentagon generals and admirals.

Assuming we have a decent President, he’s going have his work cut out for him putting the US Armed Forces back in shape.
If I were him, I’d START by relieving every general officer appointed or promoted by Obama...

Obumagabe has embarked on a Stalinesque purge of the military brass for 8 years.

His stooges need to be replaced as soon as another president is sworn in.

Further proof positive that this President is destroying our military and our ability to defend this nation.

This is ludicrous and would be laughable if it were not so deadly serious.

We simply have to overwhelmingly defeat these internal enemies. Hillary or Sanders would simply produce more of the same.

I pray we get a 16 year run at turning things around with both the Executive and Legislative branches in control of adults who love and revere America...which would lead to the Judicial Branch being solidly in their hands as well.

We desperately need it.

I hope they remember to prioritize preparing to fight in there somewhere. Between all the outreach, nation-building, climate “stuff” etc. Used to be they worried about putting weapons on target, and being so demonstrably good at it that no-one wanted to find out first hand.

How about concentrate on WINNING battles. Quickly.
With minimum damage to our troops.
Don't fool around with eco fuel, PC or anything else that will only weaken our readiness. It's nuts.

To the clueless left we can always say:
Better to win decisively, the longer a war goes on, the more environmental damage there will be.

Of all the Government contracts, the Pentagon crack suppliers must have the most lucrative.

Head choppers running wild and the concern is an international hoax.

Try sixty bucks a gallon for (inferior) 'green' jet fuel.

Crap fuel puts aircraft and crews at risk, and whatever they are protecting at risk as well.

TREASON, to suck up to another 'renewable fuel' lobby.

They have virtually killed the coal industry, so synfuels won't be able to be made from that either in case of war.

Wait, we can't declare war until the crop reports are in!

I have this awful feeling the climate change lunacy will not just automatically stop if obama decides to leave office after his term expires.

Unless Cruz or Trump get in, we are in it for the long haul.

Don’t forget to include the senior civilian bureaucrats.

People say “Pentagon” and think senior military officers, but there’s a hell of a lot of ash and trash really really worthless civilians whose skill at political fellatio in the pursuit of career advancement is unsurpassed.

Military officers are easy to get rid of. Look at Petraeus vs. Hillary. Move out of the political realm and compare and contrast that to the senior VA officials (ie — career bureaucrats) who stole $400k under the pretense of “moving expenses”, who still have their jobs.
