Lorne Michaels is worth close to a half billion dollars and in addition to SNL, he pretty much controls late-night programming for NBC.

I've been a fan of SNL since the very beginning and I watched the debut episode as a 13-year-old boy back in October of 1975. While I appreciate the nostalgia of the first few years with Belushi, Aykroyd & Co, those early shows could be very uneven. I believe the show has improved greatly over the decades and has never been better. Just my opinion having watched pretty much every episode from every season.
