Allah is the name Mohammed assigned to the Bedouin moon god when he devised his new religion.
Today, people may think they are worshipping the very same god as the God of Abraham, but that is not what Mohammed originally intended.
Sort of like Kwanza.

Boy you can sure see why tribals in a nearly rain free desert would be enamoured with the moon.....its overwhelming at night
My only question is why not call the new God Alice?
