Heidi Cruz is her husband’s not-so-secret weapon, but could she hurt his campaign?

For what it’s worth, I’ll NEVER support attacking a candidate through his family. Especially kids should be off limits, and I think it’s really bad form to take after a wife who is pretty much in the background and making occasional appearances or comments in support of their spouse. That shouldn’t be surprising to anyone.

I make an exception for Bill Clinton, because he and Mrs Clinton have been a political tag team match WITHIN government for so long that it’s obvious they are a political team.

Michelle, Heidi, whoever....are we really surprised they support their spouses?

I see zero exceptions for taking children to task. Maybe on actual policy pronouncements, the POLICY can be taken to task with a spouse. But the person is pretty much off limits. Especially looks, background, past, etc.

Personally I think Heidi looks pretty hot.

Would these cretins ever ask that about Jill Biden? They slobber over Mrs. Obama. The media are such despicable scum with their little rhetorical questions?

Heidi looks very depressed. She probably doubts her choice of joining the Cruz obsession with the Presidency.

Fundraising is not "in the background". It's developing relationships with donors who probably want something in return. Heidi is actively involved in an aspect of the campaign, so her resume and what she brings to the table are fair game.

Also consider that fundraising is involved in financing and managing the campaign. And the campaign is under scrutiny for its "do whatever it takes to win" mindset. Add to that the ubiquitous campaign solicitations, many of them from Heidi. And Heidi and the kids appeared in that ad.

As Merv Griffen used to say . . . “oooh!”

No. No, she won’t be a problem.

He’s as American as anyone on this site.

I agree. The exception I would make is when they take an active part in the campaign or are more than peripherally involved such, as you mentioned, Bill Clinton.

Cruz’s children are obviously off limits but the wife being a big shot at puppet master Goldman Sachs if more than fair game.

I don’t want another Michelle who decides what parents can feed their children or take on any official action for which she is not elected. Other than that I have no problem with wives.

If you vote against Ted Cruz, then you hate Jesus and America.

Yeah, what’s with these successful people? I’d like him much better if his wife waitressed at Waffle House or clerked at Sears.

How nice, Wifey Cruz sits on a committee to create a super state from Mexico to Canada. As wonderful as that sounds why do I suspect the US would get the short end on that deal?

Spoken like a true Goldman Sachs elitest. At least being a waitress or a clerk is an honest job.

Helping people invest their savings isn’t honest work? Because that’s what Mrs. Cruz did. Despite what you hear from some people here, she’s not a white slaver or a drug dealer.

North America is vulnerable on several fronts: the region faces terrorist and criminal security threats, increased economic competition from abroad, and uneven economic development at home.

Too bad you never heard of her CFR connection.
