I thought the debate was pretty entertaining tonight.

What did you think?

Cruz was letter perfect as always.

The Trump people here seem to think Trump did great, not surprising, but I did not see it that way.

I thought Trump seemed to be in a bad mood and gave poor answers overall with a few exceptions.

I really enjoyed Christie and he knocked Rubio down and hit him while he was down.

Kasich was Kasich. I think Ben Carson was there but he is a whiner. He initially whined about not being introduced and then he could not resist dragging up the Iowa thing again. Very unbecoming.

Rubio’s style of fasttalking can seem frantic and defensive and it did tonight.

What did you think?

I thought Trump seemed to be in a bad mood too, and he should have been upbeat. He would have been the easy winner if he had been more personable. Still I guess he was the debate “winner” overall, if not Christie.

I absolutely agree. The other major point different from the rest of the debates was Donald blowing the lid off the stacked donor audience. I read reports that he got 30 tickets. What a joke.

ROUNDUP OF DEBATE (starting with winner)

Trump, Winner. Courageous. Calm.

Christie, Runner Up. Strong.

Carson, Insipid. Kind. Accurate.

Cruz, Oily.

Rubio, Washed up. Well memorized sentence.

Kasich, Lost. Wrong party.

Bush, Call his Mom to take him home.

Frankly I was otherwise occupied until later in.....I anticipated Cruz might not step out much as NH'S been covered thick by Christie, Jeb and Kasich.....maybe Rubio too..... But Christie was the man of the hour tonight. He's been in NH over 2 months campaigning very hard.

It annoyed me Cruz thought he needed to apologize again to Carson, who continues to play the victim of his own doing. Although Cruz was of course specific about the happening, Carson once again didn't step up to clarify his or his peoples hands in that fire...and as you mentioned continued with his whining mode...... So Cruz was the better man in that respect.

Trump got on the defensive with Jeb of course.....Typical bad taste when Trump tried to shush Jeb, and THAT was the Narcissism coming out clearly....( I think Jeb wants to expose that side of Trump and he accomplished that tonight), but it showed again Trump has little control of those inner emotions when someone touches them even slightly......and Then he goes after the crowd unhinged....he really took their booing to heart and lashed out.....just another tantrum so typical of a man who has not learned the control skills so many other successful narcissists have developed. Trump simply doesn't have them to any degree.

Rubio is what he is.....a reflection of the GOPe and it shows....at mark speed no less.... The only thing he comes across sincerely about is he so much wants to be President. That he has passion about....

It was an ok debate.....but I just wasn't into it much tonight because I knew Cruz would likely play lower key.

"Cruz was letter perfect as always."

Letter perfect -- and far deeper than the others. His answer are so much more thoroughly thought out that many folks miss many of the relevant details. For example, how many caught -- or even had a chance of understanding -- his advocacy of the use of tilt-rotor aircraft on the border?

You can see the effect even here on FR: the intelligent, educated, and thoughtful prefer Cruz.

The median IQ, uneducated, and superficial prefer Trump. (as proven by the cheap shots and graphics posted on this thread).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cruz's problem is that we have a dumbed-down, superficial electorate (and sadly, FR populace), nowadays. Those who can fully appreciate his prowess are well out on the + tail of the distribution.
So, we may wind up with a scowling rabble-rouser, rather than a brilliant statesman, as President...
