Clever little name, touch back amnesty which is another Cruz lie. What is Cruz' plan?

You aren't wrongly suggesting that Cruz coined the phrase "touch back" amnesty, are you?

And it's a lie to say that Trump isn't for a touch back amnesty.

And you're asking about Cruz's plan, yet it's been out for all to see since around September.

My feeling is if he would just read from my script (I suffer from no illusions about the likelihood of this happening), he would immediately increase his support quite a bit—maybe even turn the whole campaign into some sort of victory lap to the general. It would show integrity (currently missing in Washington), honesty (uh...currently missing in America), humility (currently no longer spoken/known by 90% of the planet) - all the things that would make for the leader we all want. It is my view that none of the candidates brings these to the table in sufficient measure. This is, more likely, evidence of the overall human condition than it is of any one candidate’s deficiencies. So, we wrestle and fight among ourselves to see how we can create the impression that suggests “my” guy has more of these than “your” guy.

Cruz (and I’m a Cruz supporter) has to do some wrestling tonight.

Thought it was determined by now it was Rubio’s camp that started spreading the rumors that Carson was dropping out.

I would not blame the Rubio campaign any more than I would blame the Cruz campaign. CNN broadcast a report that Sanders was not going to New Hampshire or South Carolina. Every sentient carbon based lifeform (which includes most campaign operatives, journalists, and attentive voters) immediately assumed this meant he was reassessing his candidacy, with dropping out a probability.

The Cruz campaign picked up the CNN story and forwarded it within minutes. The Rubio campaign picked it up as well, though I don't know how widely they spread the word. Steve King, a Cruz supporter, publicly voiced the universal speculation a few minutes later. This was all happening in a matter of minutes in a chaotic twitterverse in which thousands of people were rolling into caucuses and living on their phones and emails. The idea that a deep, dark cabal of Cruz operatives was sitting in a back room, obsessing over tweets from the Carson camp and trying to game the process, is a fantasy. The Cruz campaign spotted something interesting and potentially useful, forwarded it, and moved on.

This would have been a 24 hour kertuffle except that Yosemite Sam decided to do his rabid attack dog routine and turn a non-story into a trumped up issue. Various stop-Cruz activists are perfectly willing to pile on.

Politics ain't beanbag. Right now it's a Trump-Cruz-Rubio race. Unless something remarkable happens in New Hampshire, that is likely to be the endgame. If Cruz is the first of the big three to fall, his supporters will split and Rubio will beat Trump head to head. (My guess is that a majority of Cruz folks would go to Rubio over Trump because the Cruz crowd is heavily evangelical, pro-life, and conservative on social issues, and Trump is ... well, you know.)

If/when Trump finally implodes, his support will go largely to Cruz, and there will be a tough battle between the two tea partiers. If Rubio stalls, the establishment -- including the triangulators, the moderates, the "conservative on economic issues but liberal on social issues" crowd, and the outright squishes -- will have to choose between a consistent conservative, whom they dislike because he is an intellectually serious conservative who actually means what he says, and an unmoored populist loose cannon, with whom some think they can cut a deal.

If I had to guess today, I think Rubio has the easiest path. That is not a statement of preference, just a comment on the odds. I would just note that a Cruz-Rubio final should be accepted by most folks here as a success. Both ran insurgent campaigns for the Senate. Both are tea party, pro-life, and solidly conservative. Yes, Rubio wrong-footed himself on immigration, and yes, there are important differences in style and approach. Rubio is conciliatory and wants to deal, while Cruz wants to sound the trumpets and plant the flag on Last Stand Hill. But if you had told me a year ago that the establishment wing of the party would be vaporized right off the bat, I'd have said you were dreaming.

Nowhere in your favorite interview does Trump say he will let them all back in. You are lying.

You're kidding right? The issue is not about letting them "all" back in. Trump wants to let the non criminals back. And that's what Trump says in the article.

And it's disgusting that you go around accusing people of being liars simply because you come to a different conclusion than they do. Don't do that.

Should I now call you a liar because you seem to be avoiding Trump's legalization amnesty comments?

Yes, but at this point, what does it matter?

Here’s what’s so interesting. I started out for Cruz. I became disillusioned with him PRIOR to switching to Trump. It was precisely Cruz’ warm and fuzzy response to the hordes of foreign invaders pouring across the border that sent up red flags. If you had the time and interest, you could go back in my posting history and see me BEGGING for documentation that Cruz had spoken about our loss of sovereignty, and had detailed the horrific price Americans pay at the hands of raping, murdering illegals, etc.

Finally one poster sent me a Cruz speech. I had to wade through the entire, mind numbingly boring thing to ascertain that there was not ONE WORD in it re our bygone sovereignty, or the scourge of foreign invader crime. I was hot under the collar.

Now you Cruz supporters take the one candidate who faced the withering backlash of everything the MSM, career pols, celebrities, his business partners, and a host of others, threw at him for daring to expose the foreign invasion for what it is. You somehow imagine this is a good strategy. In fact, it merely underscores how wishy washy Cruz has been.

But don’t take my word for it. Use your favorite search engine. Find instances of Cruz detailing the horrors of foreign invader crime, as well as the very loss of our country, PRIOR to Trump getting in the race. Post everything you find.

I’ll wait.

The only thing I see is Ted at the border with Beck handing out Teddy Bears. The only thing I see is Ted wanting to increase H1Bs.

That's because you're a low information poster.

Cruz came back from the border and immediately fought against Obama's DACA amnesty.

And wasn't it Trump who met with the illegal alien "Dreamers" at Trump Tower?

About Cruz and H1B's, worse than that, Trump wants to permanently legalize foreign students who graduate from US schools. There are 200,000 of them every single year that he wants to permanently legalize. Add to that he wants a touch back legalization amnesty for millions!!!

You left out all the references to the ones Trump would kick out and keep out. Incredibly dishonest.

Touch back amnesty is what CRuz supports....

He and BFF Beck TOUCH them at the border, with welcoming TEDdy bears when they arrive, and won’t ever make them go BACK.

Haha. Cruz figured the way to stem the flood of foreign invaders was for a US senator to greet them at the border with peace offerings and understanding. Beck liked this warm, touchy, feely approach too.

Simply a ridiculous story. Iowa was ground zero for the entire presidential race on the day of the caucuses. All the serious candidates were on the ground, addressing crowds of supporters going into their caucuses.

Where was Dr. Carson? On a plane to Florida because he needed fresh clothes? Carson himself created his problem with such bizarre judgment. He is the reason CNN ran the story in the first place. This is presidential politics. This whole silliness was triggered by the actions of an unserious candidate, Dr. Carson. Where are all the thousands of Carson voters deceived by Cruz’s dastardly tricks? Crickets chirp....

Okay, I through patiently putting up with you calling people dishonest and liars.

You're being dishonest. I said that, "Trump wants to let the non criminals back". Obviously the criminals don't come back.

Carson was going to Florida to refresh his wardrobe.

No secret.

Sending out an e-mail to voters saying that Carson was dropping out of the race was ALL INFO FROM CRUZ & his supporters. The media never said anything about such actions on the part of Carson.

Cruz isn’t to be trusted.

So Becky Smith didn’t say it was Cruz camp that told her? It was the person handing out the ballots? Was that a RNC or republican party rep? It should have been.

Your point is irrelevant. Even if there was no one deceived or just the one noted in the article it was wrong. Story has legs for a reason. Cruz campaign got caught and can’t spin it’s way out.

Elsewhere Trump has also said he won’t allow any back in who are only here to drain our social services. Add those to all the ones with criminal issues and it’s a vast number.

You have to quote Trump very selectively to make your false touch back amnesty case. If that’s dishonest, then that’s what I’ll call it. Spare me the outrage, though; I’ve been called orders of magnitude worse by Cruz supporters.
