Des Moines Register: Cruz ran 'campaign of deceit
The Hill ^ | February 05, 2016 | Ben Kamisar

The Des Moines Register is accusing White House contender Ted Cruz of carrying out a "campaign of deceit," calling his actions troubling for Iowa Republican voters.

The state's paper of record charged the Cruz campaign with peddling "pure, unadulterated fiction" when it sent voting mailers that appeared to be from the government.

The mailers told voters they had received a "voting violation" because of poor caucus participation in the past and for sharing information about other voters. "This was simply a politically motivated attempt to shame certain people into caucusing by assigning them 'grades' and 'scores' that had absolutely no legitimacy," the paper wrote.

"In essence, the mailer was a complete lie, from start to finish."

Cruz won the Monday caucuses by a margin of 3 percent, ahead of Donald Trump and Marco Rubio.

Cruzzzz exposed. The smartest guy in the room collapses on brains.

According to the Des Moines Register Op-Ed, the Moveon.org who were supporting the Obama 2012 re-election campaign did the same as Cruz with the deceptive shaming mailers. What's that I always hear from some about attacking from a certain side of the political spectrum?

Pretty much every man who has been president did some cheating along the way, and worse. Grow up.

But coming from a holier-than-thou candidate who claims to be one the most principled conservatives ever, and who puts on an Elmer Gantry like show of his Christianity, anyone taking his act seriously might think the behavior of his campaign, and his response to it, is totally inconsistent with claimed conservative principles and Christian faith.

And that tithing percentage that falls far below 10% will not impress evangelicals in the South, They can spot an insincere use of religion miles away.

But you seem very comfortable with the "everybody else does it" excuse.

I would say you are absolutely correct! Cruz will use anyone or anything and dragging poor deranged Beck out, to meet up on a staged Oval Office, and be seen taking a Becker OATH OF OFFICE, was a truly pathetic piece of theater that few adults would be caught dead doing.

Picking the bones of a carcass in politics, is just not a virtue, regardless of your constant denigration of Carson.

Never will be. Ever read the story of the Good Samaritan, after the Cruz types had passed by and robbed him?

Get the picture?

Public records with no phone number, no address, just a name. When I grew up, most people were listed by name and address in the phone book. I guess today publicly available information is an invasion of privacy.

If you use Google, like most of us do, they know a thousand times more about you than this.

DMR said Cruz's shaming mailer was 'similar' to the kooky liberal MoveOn.org mailer.

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/opinion/editorials/2016/02/04/editorial-cruzs-campaign-deceit-should-worry-voters/79820512/

So Cruz and MoveOn.org have something in common. Dirty tricks.

You must not get junk mail. I get stuff that is labeled “URGENT” and everything under the sun. A lot of it is designed to look like official government documents. It is just designed to get attention. I get things like this all the time and never think twice. Just toss them in the trash.

The Des Moines Register are Obama cum guzzlers. Nice to see so many “conservatives” defending them.

As John Lennon said, “strange days, indeed....”

Sure you have. Name them.

In my part of the country, a person is considered rude, crude and socially screwed when they imply a stranger is a liar.

"Larimer and two colleagues conducted an experiment using 80,000 mailings to Michigan voters in a 2006 primary. Those who got mailings listing their voting history and that of all their neighbors were 8.1% more likely to vote than those who got no mailing." US Today 2012

"Millions of Americans are getting letters showing how their record of voting stacks up against their neighbors' -- in some cases listing every registered voter on the street and whether they've voted in past elections."(Virginia in 2012) US Today 2012

Missouri, Voter "Report Card", gave grades, listed neighbors, promised to release another report after the election-----The Colbert Report 2014

"ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP)- Scores of Alaskans have complained about receiving emails and letters to find their voting histories and those of their acquaintances sent by an elusive group calling itself the Alaska State Voter Program. The messages say the super PAC-backed group plans to update the lists following next week's election."2014 Talking Points Memo

"Similar pressure tactics have been employed elsewhere, including postcard mailers in Arkansas, where Sen. Mark Pryor is defending his seat against a strong challenge from Republican Rep. Tom Cotton. In Louisiana, the conservative group funded by the billionaire Koch brothers, Americans For Prosperity, sent postcard mailers in the battle for the seat held by Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu.""2014 Talking Points Memo

Then I guess you're OK with political entities Googling your personal information and mailing it to your neighbors with comments about how you are failing in your voting record, or finances or love life.

Suit yourself.

Wasn't it just three or four weeks ago that Trump supporters were trashing the DMR has being dishonest?

Now they trust the DMR. LOL!

For decades, conservative Iowans have referred to the Des Moines Register as “the Des Moines Red Star,” or “the Locust Street Liar.”

They are so far left they probably think Bernie Sanders is a right-winger.

The media set a trap to get the Trump and Cruz supporters to fight among themselves. And the Trump and Cruz supporters bought into it lock, stock, and barrelhead.
